    READING

    1. Answer questions that demonstrate his/her

    understanding of the text or story. Students refer to thetext in order to get answers.

    2. Determine the meaning of words and phrases used indifferent types of texts and distinguish the literal meaningfrom the nonliteral meaning.

    3. Recount stories, fables, folktales, and myths fromdifferent cultures. Describe characters in a story (e.g.,their traits, motivations, or feelings), indentify the settingand problem, what were the most important events in thestory, and identify how the story ends.

    MATH1. Develop and understand the meanings of multiplication

    and division as well as the strategies of multiplication

    and division.

    2. Develop and understand the concept of fractions and

    unit fractions not only using numbers but objects asrepresentation as well.

    3. Describe and analyze two and three dimensionalshapes and figures by comparing and classifying theshapes by their sides. Students should also be able torelate their fractions to these shapes in order to showfractions of a whole.

    -develop an hypothesis-collect data using instruments and technologies-record data-compare data and ask if hypothesis was right

    -formulate a solution or solutions.

    DISCIPLINE POLICY

    Positive rewards like stickers of your choice and praiseare given depending on individual behavior, groupbehavior, and class behavior.

    Consequences for Bad Behavior:

    First offense: verbal warning

    Second Offense: Note to parents

    Third Offense: call home and parent/teacher/principalconference.

    CELEBRATING SPECIAL EVENTS

    Celebrating special events, having seasonal parties, and celebratingbirthdays are an enjoyable and fun part of our school year. Pleasefeel free to bring a special treat for your childs birthday or special

    event.

    Healthy snacks are preferred but there will be opportunities forspecial treats like cupcakes, cake, and candy. In the event that thereis a party, there will be a sign up sheet for parents to fill out.

    If you do not feel comfortable with sending treats or having your childparticipate in the seasonal parties or birthdays, feel to send me anemail or give me a call.
