Appointed by firm as a technical leader in a specialty area. Called upon to solve the most complex technical problems. Manages the execution of the firm's most complex tasks in area(s) of expertise within budget and schedule parameters, often using resources from multiple offices. Lead practitioner, or equivalent for multi- unit/location/discipline program (i.e., the firm's largest and most complex projects or programs). Active member of firmwide strategic market task force or appointed as division market leader. Assists in contract negotiations and advises project teams. Achieves sales targets in market area as shown in "Thanker/Thankee" report. Has history of identifying technical innovations/project approaches that lead to project wins. Delivers papers nationally in direct support of CDM Smith market strategy. Is routinely requested to attend sales/marketing calls with existing and potential clients. Is sought internally as national expert. Skills provide CDM Smith with distinct advantage over the competition. Leads technology transfer (e.g., through activity on the discipline forum, lunchtime seminars, etc.). Mentors mid-level staff. Has demonstrated success as a mentor. CDM Smith University course developer and instructor, Discipline leader or subdiscipline leader. Embraces diversity, Provides quality input into PFDFs and appraisals of technical staff. Conducts quality appraisals as requested. Presents at national conference(s) Directs submittal to national awards competition and wins award. • Has an MS or PhD.

• Successfully manages project tasks to completion.

• Local/unit-level lead practitioner or equivalent,

• Has completed PM1 courses and passed exam.

• Recognized as key sales/marketing resource at the unit or local level.

• Serves as area market leader or some equivalent position.

• Provides consistent, cost-effective and responsive solutions to proposal team.

• Assists with contract negotiations.

• Understands and supports CDM Smith's negotiations and wins processes.

• Involved in continuing ed. activities.

• Subdiscipline leader.

• Contributes content to discipline site.

• Co-authors papers/presentations with junior-level staff.

• Serves as mentor to junior-level staff who have declared themselves to be oriented toward the Technical Specialist focus of the Degreed Technical Professional path.

• Connects with entry- level staff that will likely pursue the technical specialist path (e.g., entry-level PhDs.).
