Riverwalk A SENSE OF COMMUNITY Riverwalk is a major development in the heart of the Citywest Business Campus. It provides an urban thoroughfare flanked by distinctive office buildings with a river running down the centre of the street and opening out with weirs to a pool in the centre of the plaza. Riverwalk offers a genuine relaxing atmosphere with a range of amenities for all who work on the Campus. We hosted another very successful BBQ on the 27th July at Riverwalk. Some 650 employees of Citywest Business Campus and Magna Business Park turned out on a sizzling summer’s day which was further enlivened by music provided by Rob Strong and his band. We look forward to another successful BBQ next summer. Due to popular demand Yoga Classes started back in October. Course runs for 6 weeks – cost €50.00. Beginners class takes place on Wednesdays from 1.10pm–1.55pm and the Continuation class takes place on Thursdays from 1.10pm – 1.55pm at Block 4 (beside Spar Shop). For further information you can contact Liz on 086 2575177 – email [email protected] or the Citywest Office – 4660160. The landscape at Citywest is similar to the West of Ireland – weathered stone, streams, lakes, waterfalls and hills. There is a long tradition of the blind musician in Ireland, he was a common spectacle during penal times. Whether or not the blindness was due to poor living conditions he seemed always to be at the centre of perhaps the only source of joy and escape during those difficult years. The sculpture of the “Blind Fiddler” is impressionistic. He plays a happy tune, his broken layers of clothes represents leaves, his arched back, the wind shaped tree and his slight frame allows him the lightness to “dance a jig on a cobweb” . The natural patination of the bronze is not fixed with wax and so its colours will evolve organically with time and with the seasons. During the summer months employees of Citywest were entertained by a new modern musician “The Busker” at the Riverwalk on Fridays, a bit different from the Fiddler in the past. This created a pleasant atmosphere while relaxing over lunch. the "blind fiddler" AT RIVERWALK AUTUMN 2006 www.citywestcampus.com

ryan academy for entrepreneurship:open for business

The iconic structure of the Ryan Academy has blended well into the futuristic environment at Citywest. To date the Academy has delivered a number of courses and conferences to assist entrepreneurs and also other stakeholders who support business and enterprise. facilities and forthcoming programmes could contribute to the development plans of our neighbours on the Business Campus". A two year part-time Masters programme in Entrepreneurship will commence in January 2007. christmas toy appeal 2006

We will be running our Christmas Toy Appeal again this year in aid of the Bubble Gum Club. This was a huge success last year and the children who received toys greatly appreciated them. We will be in contact with companies over the coming weeks.

campus employees free financial seminar

Foresthill Financial Planning and Mortgage Company based in the Premier Business Centre will be organising the following seminars free to Citywest Campus Employees.

1. First Time Buyer Seminars Getting on the property ladder and a step by step through

the intimidating property purchasing maze. We can help to restructure and renegotiate existing finances at more flexible and cost effective terms.

2. SSIA Information Seminars We are being bombarded from all sides with sales material

about what “product” institutions want us to buy. Our message is to stand back and take stock and review all strands of your life (not just financial). When you have decided what the main priorities are for you and your loved ones, the “product” decision can be easily made.

Please contact Nicola on 4693716 for dates and venues.

transportLuas is progressing well. The public consultation is now complete. All the responses are being considered and addressed. It is hoped that the railway order application which is the equivalent of planning permission for the Luas will be issued before Christmas. When the Minister for Transport issues the railway order the construction of the track is likely to

start at the end of the year. The outer ring road is a link road connecting Lucan Road N4 – Tallaght bypass N81. It is being constructed in 3 phases. Phase 3 which will connect N7 – N81 is due to commence at the end of the year. This should alleviate the build up of cars on the N82. We will keep you informed of progress.

The Bus will stop at bus stops on the Citywest Road (N82) or you can Hail and Ride on route.
