Terumo’s Advanced EVH Clinical Training Program

Whether you are a novice or expert harvester, Terumo’s Advanced Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) training program can benefit you. Terumo’s comprehensive training program consists of a dedicated clinical support team, proprietary simulation training equipment, and state-of-the art training facilities to educate harvesters on the successful adoption of the VirtuoSaph® Plus EVH System.

One-on-one FocusOur trainers work one-on-one with each clinician to ensure a high level of proficiency and a clear understanding of the VirtuoSaph Plus device’s full clinical capabilities. The goal of our training program is to not only educate you on the clinical benefits of the Terumo Technique, but to also provide the tools necessary to enhance your surgical performance and share best practices.

Training Suited to Your NeedsTerumo’s clinical team of in-the-field experts has over 100 years of combined EVH experience with an extensive array of cardiac backgrounds. Our professional trainers will work with you to customize a comprehensive solution that fits your staff’s training needs. Terumo’s “Train the Trainer” program elevates the training for identified individuals in your organization to conduct VirtuoSaph Plus EVH training for your staff.

Participants Focus on Training without Distractions and Operating Room Pressure Terumo understands the pressure hospitals and clinical professionals are under to provide excellent patient care as effectively and efficiently as possible. Our clinical training program provides clinicians with the opportunity to practice on virtual reality simulators to refine technique and improve consistency.

The virtual reality training software and training techniques used by Terumo’s clinical team, enable clinicians to experience a realistic simulation of the EVH procedure in a safe, controlled environment without interruptions, daily distractions or the time pressures experienced in a live operating room (OR).

Getting StartedStep 1 – Coordinate dates with your Terumo representative to visit one of our state-of-the-art training facilities.

Step 2 – Join us for one night, two days to utilize the training components and curriculum tailored to meet your individual needs:

• SynDaver synthetic vein harvesting

• Virtual reality EVH simulation

• Didactics and video reviews

• Cadaver training for EVH and ERAH

• Live case observation with Q&A session with harvesters

Step 3 – Coordinate dates with your Terumo representative to support surgical cases at your own hospital:

• Medical Device Recorders available to review individual cases

• On-site support for live surgical cases

1. Virtual Reality EVH Simulation

• Receive real-time feedback on your surgical performance from our “Accutouch” technology

• Challenge yourself on six unique case profiles of patient’s anatomy with different levels of difficulty (both lower leg and thigh options available)

• Perform 10 to 20 simulations to improve muscle memory

2. SynDaver Synthetic Vein Harvesting

• Experience real-life feel of OR environment with endoscopic tower and generator

• Experience timing and real-life feel of how to correctly divide branches with electrosurgical bipolar cautery

• Practice your Terumo Technique to improve your muscle memory

LocationsParticipants will attend a two-day training course on the successful adoption of the VirtuoSaph Plus System at one of three Centers of Excellence. Centers are located in Ann Arbor, MI; Toledo, OH; and Houston, TX. Location will be determined based on training needs.

In Ann Arbor, MI, Terumo’s unique virtual reality EVH simulator stations with “Accutouch” technology offer hands-on practice with real-time feedback.

University of Toledo Lloyd A. Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center located in Toledo, OH.

Hands-on ERAH and EVH training with cadavers takes place in the OR Simulation Rooms located in Toledo, OH.

Upon completion of Terumo’s Advanced EVH Clinical Training Program, participants will have a thorough understanding of the clinical benefits of VirtuoSaph Plus EVH System, along with the confidence and skill set to utilize the device and train other members of the team.
