On behalf of Lambda Theta Phi, Alpha Iota Chapter at California State University, Long Beach, we would like to thank you for your continous support and contribution towards our Annual Thanksgiving Outreach. With your assistance in 2011, we were able to provide 305 meals to families in need throughout the Southern California region. Success of this magnitude was due to the help of volunteers and community members who each year offer a little bit of their time and deliver each meal themselves. Each meal delivered is enough to feed a family of eight. As a result, in 2011 we were able to provide 2, 440 people with a holiday meal to share and enjoy with their loved ones. Every year numerous people, organizations, and businesses contribute in many ways to help achieve our goal. We express our most sincere appreciation to each one of you for your time, hard work, devotion, and effort in making the Thanksgiving Outreach successful. With new innovative improvements and wellorganized objectives, our goal is to make sure we repeat and exceed the positive contribution we have provided to the Southern California community. We understand times are tough but with your help, we can lessen this economic hardship and provide meals to families in need. As a token of our appreciation, we invite all of the volunteers to join us for a Thanksgiving dinner honoring your support of our 14th Annual Thanksgiving Outreach. We hope to see you all there!! Thanksgiving Outreach History

PastLambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc. hasbeen a melting pot since its foundation in1975. Ever since then, men from differentraces, ages, and backgrounds have joinedand continued to make our beloved fraternityone of the most sought after Greekorganizations. But aside from all thedifferences, we also share many aspects ofour lives. One of those is the struggle thatmany of us have encountered throughoutour childhoods. We may remember having ahard time during the Holidays. Gratefully, wehave overcome many of our setbacks andare now in a better position to help thosethat continue to struggle. With this in mind in1999, Alpha Iota chapter established its firstThanksgiving Outreach. When the program began 13 years ago, thesimple idea was to sponsor a single familyfor Thanksgiving. It was not meant to be abig event; we were just trying to scrape afew dollars together to provide a family witha hot meal for the holiday. There was noorganization or formal application process, but somehow we came across eight familiesin need. Unable to choose which family wasthe most deserving, we decided

to sponsor them all. This marked thebeginning of Lambda Theta Phi’s annualThanksgiving Outreach. The following yearwe were able to provide meals for 14families and that number has continued togrow thereafter.

PresentOur Thanksgiving Outreach is a lot morestructured and organized and is gearedtowards feeding as many families as wepossibly can. Our chapter is dedicated tofundraising throughout the year. We haveset up events where all proceeds go towardsthe Thanksgiving Outreach. Fundraising, along with the generous donations wereceive, have allowed us to continue to helpour community one family at a time.We have set up applications for bothsponsorships and for families looking to besponsored. Through the help of many of ourpeers, we distribute the applications, andafter having set due dates for theseapplications, we are allowed to review andchoose the most deserving families. Thesefortunate families will then receiveconfirmation via a telephone call. With the families in mind, we set up our

outreach to be able to deliver the meals totheir homes. Last year, with over 300families chosen, we were able to delivereach meal. This could not be done withoutthe help of hundreds of volunteers thatparticipate every year on the Wednesdaybefore Thanksgiving Day. Thank you forsupporting our event!

FutureWe have been grateful for the vast supportthat our Philanthropy has gained throughoutthe years from businesses, corporations, clubs, fraternities, sororities, members of thecommunity, and family members. Thesupport has come in the form ofsponsorships, volunteer drivers, distributionof applications, and planning of the event. With your help, it is our goal to soon expandout of our Southern California communitiesand to be able to keep our numbersincreasing every year.

Thank you and we look forward to workingwith you on our next Thanksgiving Outreach.
