Park) is honored to host the 16th ASPA Annual

Conference in Ho chi Minh City, ‘the Pearl of the

Orient’ in Vietnam.

Keeping pace with developing the essential role of Science Parks

in a dynamic world, the conference identifies the theme entitled,

“Science Parks toward Green Economy”. It aims to focus

on sustainable development based on friendly environmental

technologies which are changing the world.

In addition, considering the effectiveness of the conference

towards innovation activities, Prof. Tim Turpin(Centre for

Industry and Innovation Studies, Univ of Western Sydney,

Australia), Prof. Jaehoon Rhee(Vice President of Glocal Initiative,

Young-nam Univ, S.Korea) and Prof. Munir H. Nayfeh(Physics

faculty Univ of Illinois, U.S.A) will give keynote speeches in the

two-day session.

Deputies Meeting, Gwangju Metropolitan City has

result the efforts, Korea Basic Science Institute has

decided to establish its headquarter in the

international science business belt and the city has

In order to achieve the goal to grow into one of

world top 3 photonics industrial cities until 2015,

Gwangju City has been doing it best. Providing

necessary supports to the photonics and convergence

industries, it is strengthening the foundation of the

industrial foundation for the next generation optical

communication, IT convergence and environment-

friendly optical convergence parts development. The

central government has also designated the

photonics industry of Gwangju City as the 21st

cutting edge industry, providing systematic supports

based on investment plans.

Gwangju City is also growing into a cultural center

city in Asia. It has held numerous international

events such as Gwangju Biennale, Design Biennale,

World Photonics Expo and International Kimchi

Festival regularly. Since Gwangju City was

designated as an international conference city in

2007, it has hosted over 800 international

conferences. In particular, the city is improving its

infrastructure to make sure the successful operation

of upcoming global events including JCI ASPAC in

2013, World Hydrogen Energy Conference in 2014

and Gwangju Summer Universiade in 2015.

Gwangju is consolidating its position as an

international conference city.

The 17th ASPA annual conference will be held in

connection with “International Photonics

Exhibition” through a close cooperation with related

local organizations and as a global event by

establishing a close relation with various cultural

festivals to be held in the area including “Kimchi

Festival” and “Design Biennale”.

Hong Kong Science Park에 2009년 Solar Energy Technology

2.밀폐형전열관난방

밀폐형 전열관 난방이란?

밀폐한 XL 관내에서 전열선에 열을 가하면 열선주변으로 기포가 발

하며 액체와 기체의 온도 차가 10℃이상이 되면 핵 비등 현상

(Nucleate Boiling)이 이루어집니다. 결국, 상온에서 방열관의 내부

기압을 대기압보다 낮은 Negative Pressure(부기압)으로 유지함으

로써 물의 비등온도가 낮아지게 되는데 그 결과 Nucleate Boiling

1.First, congratulations for the 10th Anniversary

of Saigon Hi-Tech Park. The year, 2012,

seems very special for Saigon Hi-Tech Park

as it is not only the 10th Anniversary of

SHTP but SHTP also hosts the 16th ASPA

Annual Conference this October. Could you

please tell us what Saigon Hi-Tech Park has

done for the past 10 years and what it is

going to do in the next 10 years?

It has been 10 years of development since the

establishment, SHTP is honorable to be

chosen as a model for focal economic

restructure of the city and the nation, and is the

pioneer unit in the field of scientific and

technological development of the country by

creating a favorable environment to attract

local and foreign hi-tech investment, provides

a good platform for acquiring, transferring and

innovating new technologies in order to

toward the target of bringing Vietnam to be a

modern industrial country in 2020.

Hosting the 16th ASPA Conference in Ho Chi

Minh City is a highlighted event in the series

of activities to celebrate SHTP’s 10th years.

The conference is not only a great opportunity

for local and foreign scientists in learning from

each other, sharing managing experiences,

updating the trends of scientific and technological

development in the region and the world, but

also showing a dynamic and integrative

Vietnam.

2.With the theme of the 16th ASPA Annual

Conference, ‘Science Parks toward Green

Economy’, Saigon Hi-Tech Park has

spurred the development of green

technologies. Could you please tell us what

kind of projects SHTP is doing in the field of

green technology? Also, what are you

expecting through these projects?

As other countries all over the world, the

Asian community in general, and Vietnam in

particular, are facing with challenges of the

climate change, the food security, the

depletion of natural resources, etc. that

threaten our living environment.

With the opinion of “sustainable economic

development”, SHTP appeals all enterprises in

SHTP for saving energies, increasing the use

of renewable energies in activities of research

and production, applying clean process in

manufacturing, using environmental friendly

materials from input to output. Currently,

SHTP is very pleased with Intel, Fawoo-kidi,

Bao Son, Thai Duong, GES, Jabil, etc. who

are the pioneers to perform these processes, I

believe that they will have a pervasive effect

to the remaining tenants.

I also hope thorough the 16th ASPA Conference

with the theme “ Science Park and Green

Economy” I could harvest the ideas from

managers, scientists and entrepreneurs sharing

their responsibilities for the green economy.

3.For the potential investment and the tenants

to Saigon Hi-Tech Park in the near future,

could you please tell us what advantages

and benefits SHTP can provide with them?

Vietnam has been known as a country that has

a large number of young labor force with

passionate creation, eager for learning, loyalty

and strong attachment to enterprises...that is

the largest value of Vietnam in general, and

SHTP in particular bring to investors.

Besides, SHTP has been authorized by the

Central and Local Government to offer the

highest incentives to investors, as following:

1⃞Offer the highest incentives on Corporate

Income tax, VAT, Import - Export tax.

2⃞Offer the best land rental fee, even thought

SHTP could consider to offer the fee at 0

VND for projects that have positive impact

to Vietnam’s socio-economy;

3⃞Apply“one-stop shop” investment procedure,

therefore, saving the time and budget of

investors.

4.Lastly, what would you like to say to the

ASPA members?

As an emerging, dynamic country, we have

strong desire to share, learn and built

relationships with countries in the region and

in the world. Therefore we would like to invite

all of you to come to Vietnam to experience a

friendly Vietnam the beauty of the traditional

Asian culture; enjoy the scenic natural

landscaes. Especially together we continue to

SHTP 설립 10주년 일뿐만 아니라 제 16차 ASPA 연차총회를 개최

한다는 점에서 매우 특별해 보입니다. Saigon Hi-Tech Park가 지

난 10년간 수행한 것이 무엇이며, 앞으로 또 10년간 어떤 계획을 갖

고 있는지 말씀해 주시겠습니까?

설립 이래‘발전’의 10년 이었으며, 시와 국가의 집중경제구조 모델

로 선정되는 영예를 안았습니다. SHTP는 베트남 과학 기술 발전 분

야의 선구자로 국내외 하이테크 투자를 유치하기 위해 우호적 환경

을 조성하고, 2020년까지 베트남을 현대산업국가로 만들기 위한 목표

실현을 위해 신기술 취득, 이전 및 혁신을 위한 훌륭한 플랫폼을 제공

SHTP의 10 주년을 기념하는 일련의 행사 가운데, 호치민시에서 제

On August 28, Dr. Sunkook Kwon, Secretary-General of ASPA visited National

Information Technology Park(NITP) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. For the purpose of

recruiting a new member in Mongolia and encouraging its participation in the ASPA

activities, the ASPA Secretariat has communicated with NITP for the past few years and

this meeting was finally made last month.

From the NITP side, Mr. Uuganbayar Amarsanaa (Deputy Director), Ms.

Myagmarsuren Sugar (Director of Information Technology Development Promotion

Department), Mr. Idersaikhan Jargal (Financier of Information Technology Business,

Innovation Promotion Department) and Ms. Altanzaya Dechmaa (Officer for Foreign Relations) welcomed Dr. Kwon.

Through this meeting, ASPA and NITP had a great opportunity to introduce each other and to seek for future cooperation in the field science and

technology. As a result of this meeting, National Information Technology Park has become a new member of ASPA and promised its active participations

in the near future. We look forward to a long association with our new member, NITP in future.

Visit to National Information Technology Park

Affected by global economy, the domestic market

is also facing enormous pressure of the economic

downturn, which can be seen from the convention

and exhibition industry. Over the past two years,

major companies became more cautious about

choosing exhibitions, which are always the stage for corporate

promotion. However, with the increasing expansion of the convention

and exhibition industry, enterprises become more rational when investing

in exhibitions. “Efficiency” becomes an important criterion to appraise

one. Either exhibitors or visitors, all enterprises hope to achieve

substantial results from exhibitions. James Fu, general manager of

Hannover Milano Fairs China Ltd. says, “The high expectations of

enterprises also enhance the quality of the exhibition. Based on the

principle of ‘Focusing on the Market and Serving Exhibitors’, Hannover

puts in-depth interpretations on the market and exhibitors’ demand, and

makes reasonable planning of exhibitions and various supporting

services. With the support of major companies, PTC ASIA 2012 shows

an uptrend despite of the overall recession and further expands the

exhibition scale. It can be seen that the platform for both branding and

marketing has been widely recognized by the market.”

At this moment, PTC ASIA 2012 has entered the last three months of

home stretch. After completing the recruitment of exhibitors, the

organizer fully turns to serving exhibitors and visitors, and strives to

enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of field business communication

between them by setting a variety of interactive activities.

The show builds a platform for product manufacturers and users to

communicate directly. Through face-to-face interaction, both sides of the

market can understand the needs of each other, and thus move closer and

achieve a win-win situation in future development. By relying on its

abundant resources and strength in industrial fields, the organizer,

Hannover, aims at hydraulic, pneumatic, motor, gear, bearing,

compression technology, fastener and other exhibit categories, and has

invited authoritative organizations from industries such as engineering

machinery, petrochemical equipment and

automobile manufacturing to jointly organize

technical seminars on key application industries.

These seminars include 2012 China Excavation

Machinery Industry Annual Conference,

Reducer Technological Innovation and

Application Seminar, and Overall Energy-

Saving Solutions to Efficient Motor and

System, concentrating on the discussions on the

technical standards, application, procurement

requirements and future trends of key

components in each field of manufacturing.

In addition to the demands for communication, the procurement needs of

user enterprises and professional buyers can also be met. The organizer

specially cooperates with professional procurement platforms and

associations to organize a number of purchasing negotiations for special

exhibits, build service areas, and provide the environment with good

business atmosphere for the user enterprises with such needs. These

measures will completely solve the difficulties of user enterprises to find

products on the scene and greatly increase the efficiency. Up to now,

many buyer groups, from construction machinery, petroleum machinery,

automobile manufacturing, and coal mining machinery, have registered

to participate in 2012 PTC ASIA Fasteners Sourcing Event, PTC ASIA

2012 BME Sourcing Event, as well as sourcing and negotiation fairs

respectively for petroleum machinery & power transmission equipment,

excavating machinery, and engineering machinery.

Over the past two decades, China’s economy has experienced ups and

downs, but PTC ASIA has been remaining relatively stable development,

rising steadily and expands its scale continuously. The reasons should be

that the organizer focuses on the market, actively adjusts strategies, and

adds new elements to the exhibition each year. PTC ASIA 2012 will for

sure be a grand event for exhibitors and visitors.

The Asian leading intra-logistics trade fair

CeMAT ASIA 2012 will be held from 29

October to 1 November at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

Over the past 12 years, CeMAT ASIA has been remaining steadily rising

development. It has become a grand and most influential international

event in the field of logistics technology and equipment in Asia-Pacific

region. According to the recruitment of exhibitors this year, all figures

climb to a new high level again, for example the exhibition areas of Hall

W1 to Hall W3, greatly increased heavyweight exhibitors, and further

improved quality of exhibits. In the final preparation stage, the exhibition

has fully turned to another important aspect, namely exhibitors and

visitors service. “ With the development of this exhibition to current

degree, the needs of exhibitors and visitors have become increasingly

diversified. In addition to the presentation of products and technologies,

all participants hope to

achieve actual results.” says

In fact, CeMAT ASIA has made efforts in the market. On 24 May,

Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Ltd., together with Industrial Truck

Institution of China Construction Machinery Association, invited nearly

30 major forklift enterprises to attend a seminar for exchanging ideas on

the industrial exhibition. Through face-to-face communication, latest

market information and exhibitors’ opinions were collected, which helps

promote the development of the exhibition in line with the interests of

exhibitors and visitors.

The concurrent activities of the exhibition can be

divided into two main categories which just

meet two kinds of demand of exhibitors and

visitors, namely in-depth exchanges and

procurement match-making. Thus, a number of

market-based seminars and procurement activities will be held during all

segments of CeMAT ASIA, which include the Second Member

Congress of CHMIA Logistics & Warehousing Machinery Sub-Council,

between the two sides and solve the problems that users are hard to find

goods on-site.

International Event . . InfoDev Business Incubation Management Training

Al Urdonia Lil Ebda (AULE)Al Urdonia Lil Ebda (AULE) is a main sponsor for Innovation and

Entrepreneurship in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and a

fundamental player of the Jordanian innovation-based incubation

industry. Started as an initiative by government, semi-government

organizations and Jordanian universities to support entrepreneurship,

innovation and technology transfer in Jordan. The idea behind AULE

was to create a place where proactive detection of innovative projects

occurs, where entrepreneurs and graduates can achieve proof of concept

of their innovative ideas and develop the business case around it.

AULE successes have been achieved through the dedicated support and

help of the following association; Jordan Enterprise Development

Corporation (chairman), Jordan Industrial Estates Company, Jordan

Engineers Association, King Abdullah II Fund for Development, Jordan

University of Science and Technology, Yarmouk University and Mutah

University.

In 2007, AULE was the first Jordanian organization to become a board

member of the Asian Science Park Association - Korea (ASPA), AULE

hosted the 5th ASPA Leaders Meeting in Dead Sea In 2010.

AULE became a full member of the European Business and Innovation

Centre Network (EBN), and is the first Jordanian business incubators to

be accredited the EC-BIC logo from the European commission, which

stands for best practices in business incubations.

In 2010, AULE named the leading business incubator in Jordan

according to study conducted to evaluate business incubators in Jordan

members in JIC network.
