The Battle of Armageddon – Gog & Magog

Who What Where When Why

When

Church Age – Commences with the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the installation of the Apostles on the Day of Pentecost with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit – we are currently in the Church Age.

God’s Covenant with David2 Samuel 7:12-16: “When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with the rod of men, with floggings inflicted by men. But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me your throne will be established forever.”

When

Ezekiel 37 – Rebirth of Nation of Israel – 1948; “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.”

Who – Ezekiel 38 Homework suggests some scholars think the events described in Ezekiel 38-39 accompany the Battle of Armageddon. I don’t think so. Ezekiel 38 – describes an attack from Gog & Magog Gog - is a word for “ruler” meaning roof which actually means the “man on top” – a type of dictator. The prince of “Rosh” (NKJV) – Rosh ancient name of the area north of the Caucusus – Russia.

Who - Gog & Magog Magog – Russia Meshech - Moscow Tubal – Tubolsk (Western Siberia) Persia – Iran/Iraq Ethiopia Libya Gomer – Germany (mainly eastern) & possibly Poland Togarmah – Turkey/Armenia/Yugoslavia/Romania – the Balkans Revelation 16, which describes the assembly of the armies for the Battle of Armageddon, includes additional players who are not listed here. Kings of the east – China, India, and possibly Japan

Magog

Who – Ezekiel 38 Mentions some objectors to this plan of attack: Sheba & Dedan – Saudi Arabia Merchants of Tarshish – England Young Lions – U.S.A.? Canada? Australia?

When – Ezekiel 38 Verses 18-23 – Judgment on Gog – will include internal revolution – civil war; earthquake; great hailstones, fire, and brimstone - nuclear exchange? Is this the time of the Rapture? Partially explains the disappearance of church.

When – Ezekiel 39 Ezekiel 39 – Destruction of Gog’s armies In KJV, verse 2 states, “And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee,” Verse 6 – “I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands” – nuclear exchange?? Verse 9 – “Then those who live in the towns of Israel will go out and use the weapons for fuel and burn them up—the small and large shields, the bows and arrows, the war clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel.” Same period of time of Tribulation. Verses 11-21 describes burial of invading armies which includes how long it will take the bury the dead, the need for professional burial people; people not to touch dead - set up signs; all potential signs of results of radioactivity-related issues.

When – Ezekiel 39 Verse 22 – “So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.” With the destruction of the Russian army, Israel will recognize God again

When – Ezekiel 39 Verse 29: “I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD.” Implies that He has completed the pouring out of His Spirit on the church, and it is no longer there.

The scattered Israel and appropriated land.

The Battle of Armageddon – Why

Revelation 16:14 – “They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.”

The Battle of Armageddon – Why

Jeremiah 30:10b-11 – “So do not fear, O Jacob my servant; do not be dismayed, O Israel,’ declares the LORD. 'I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their exile. Jacob will again have peace and security, and no one will make him afraid.  I am with you and will save you,’ declares the LORD. 'Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only with justice; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”

God must keep His promises!

The Battle of Armageddon – Why

Righteousness must prevail before any nation or individual can experience the love, mercy, and goodness of God. Romans 3:22 - This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. Romans 2:5 - But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

Validation of God’s Righteousness in judgment

Jeremiah 23:5-6

“Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called:

THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”
