FAQ of the Week Q: If I am with my child, can she play on the playground for awhile after school? A: No, students and parents must leave the campus within 15 minutes of the final school bell. The Los Gatos Recreation Department rents our outdoor space from 2:45 - 6:30 pm. The only students allowed on campus are those enrolled in Clubhouse or an after school enrichment class. SUPER TWEETS!Our Superintendent, Paul Johnson, has a LGUSD Twitter account. You can follow all the latest district news at https://twitter.com/JohnsonP_LGUSD.

GREEN NEWSThe students are doing a great job sorting their trash! The Green Team started its Trash-Free Tuesdays program three weeks ago, and since then, children are learning proper trash sorting skills at lunchtime. The volunteers help them to understand what is compostable versus recycling and what items go in the landfill. Each week they require less and less guidance, and many of them are already becoming experts in sorting their trash! We are proud to say that since we started to compost and recycle some of our trash, approximately 60% less waste goes in the traditional garbage cans. That is a huge difference!

Thank you to all parents for supporting our efforts and sending your children with reusable containers. On Tuesdays, the Green Team would like to reach a goal of zero waste production - this means avoiding foil wrap, ziploc bags, and single use bottles or cartons. Our hot lunch provider is also working to provide trash-free lunch options on Tuesdays. Together, we can make a real difference!

If you are interested in joining the Green Team, or would like to volunteer during lunchtime, please send an email to [email protected].

Home & School Club Board Volunteer Needed – President-elect Position

Home & School Club Families - We are looking to our community of parents to fulfill a key leadership role within our volunteer organization. Our Home & School Club Board is seeking interested individuals to fulfill the role of President-elect for the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year. This role would transition into President of the Home & School Club for the 2019-2020 school year. We are looking to fulfill this role as soon as possible so the remainder of this school year can be spent learning the ropes of the President’s position. If you are interested or know of someone who may be, please contact [email protected]  for more information.
