•THERE are ways of making bran * gems. Rene Anjard, chef of the
Waldorf-Astoria, New York, has a reeipe all of his own, which occupies a prominent place in the hotel's diet lists.
H e Waldorf-Astoria, by the way, has a whole series of menus on scientific diet lists, and these bran gems can be found in almost every one of them. This is the way Monsieur Anjard makes his bran gems:
One and one-half cups of bran, one teaspoonf ul of baking soda, one tableepoonful of butter, three-fourths cup of sour cream or buttermilk, one-fourth cup of sugar.
Mix together and bake in a hot oven for twenty minutes. This maker six gems.

coal strike forces us to remind you that now is the wise time to stock your coal. We are anxious and willing to serve you NOW, but later .we may have to employ that old sterotyped phrase "I told you so."

Increasing World's Food Supply. Col. R. J. Stordy, who was chief
veterinary surgeon of the British armies during the war, has taken to the pastoral life now—but on a very large scale. He is raising sheep and cattle on the high pampas of southern Peru, under the aegis of the Peruvian government and the Peruvian corporation. His experimental and survey work he iinds absorbing, and he expresses the opinion that some day this region will become one of the richest grazing territories in the world through expert breeding of the country's valuable native wool-bearing animals, the vicuna and guanaco.

The Eco Mak The cost of making alterations—alterations that are absolutely satisfactory—is surprisingly low with Sheetrock.
For remodeling part of the attic into a children's play room, a sewing room or an extra bedroom; for additions, closets and partitions; for sleeping porches, garages, or for the erec-. tion of a new home or other building, Sheetrock is the standard wall and ceiling material in unit form.
Made of a sheet of pure gypsum rock, sheathed in a heavy protective covering, Sheetrock cannot warp, shrink or buckle. It is fireproof. And it stubbornly resists both heat and cold. In other words, Sheetrock walls and ceilings are permanent; they stay put as long as the building stands.
And Sheetrock is easy to put up. It can be easily sawed and securely, nailed to studs and joists. Also, being uniformly and permanently even in surface, it takes any decorative treatment; paper, paint, panels. Or it may be used just as it comes from the factory in its finish of soft mist gray.

Call today and ask to sea Sheetrock. You '11 be greatly interested, particularly in the U. S. G. Patented Reinforcements of the joining- edges.
