Wild News ATTENDANCE INCENTIVES
FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER
Study after study confirms the value of high-quality early childhood experience for developing the cognitive, social and emotional skills that children need to succeed in Kindergarten. But, unless children attend these programs on a regular basis, they are not likely to benefit fully. At Fonwood, we reward students who come to school regularly because we believe that attendance in Pre-K lays the foundation for a child’s future attendance habits and academic performance.
Every month, students who have PERFECT ATTENDANCE will be rewarded! Perfect Attendance for October: Fall Carnival tickets Attendance on Monday, October 10: Free Dress Pass Attendance on Tuesday, October 11: Fall Dance tickets
In addition to Fall Carnival tickets, students with
perfect attendance will also receive free
groceries!!

appreciation for the special roles grandparents play in our students’ lives. We would also like to thank the Top Ladies of
Distinction -Lake Houston Chapter for helping to serve lunch to the families who came to this important event.

BEGINNING-of-YEAR (BOY) ACADEMIC PARENT TEACHER TEAM (APTT)
CONFERENCES COMING SOON
Evidence suggests that family engagement matters for student success. At Fonwood, there are several opportunities for families to take an active role in their children’s education. One very important event is the Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) conferences which are held three times during the year. During APTT conferences, teachers meet with all parents to talk about their children’s CIRCLE assessment results. Parents are also provided with strategies and tools to
help support learning at home. The first of these APTT conferences will be held on October the 24th and the 25th. Parents/Guardians may choose a time that works best for them.

On September 27th and 29th, the Fonwood administrators and teaching staff warmly welcomed family members and friends as they visited with their children’s teachers for a night of Open House. The main objective of the Open House was for teachers and families to create a personal connection and set the stage for continued communication throughout the school year. Thank you to all those who came and we look forward to your presence in upcoming family involvement activities!
Read for the Record at FONWOOD
Every year, children and adults worldwide participate in the world’s largest shared reading experience called Read for the Record. This year, Read for the Record will be celebrated at Fonwood on Thursday, October 27th. Parents or guardians who would like to volunteer to read to our PK students can call the office at 713-633-0781. Fonwood will help break the world reading record (again!) for the most people reading the same book on the same day!
What is a Parent Advisory Council
(PAC)?
