TREND SETTINGAfter the first few competitions, it’s clear. Redondo is a force to be reckoned with.
On a winning streak, all the practice is finally paying off. So far, Redondo has defended its new title as being the best and nothing less. However, behind the shiny trophies is something much more meaningful, the fact that everyone in this program is a family. With championships coming up, everyone needs to keep pushing their
hardest. Lately, tensions have been high, with many close competitors just points ahead or below. Already, marchers have cried or begun to loose hope. But because of group support, giving up is not on the checklist to finals. The Big Picture remains just in reach. Social activities, such as secret buddies and section sleep overs, have allowed for everyone to project an
image of seriousness, but feel free to be themselves behind the scenes. Earlier this year, the band director even held an emotional pow wow, which helped drastically improve group relations. As the season continues, more glory is sure to come, if and only if, the productivity continues to stay at an all time high.

THE SEA HAWK NOTE
Bringing the Spirit Back
On October 16th, Sea Hawks line up in brilliant red and sparkling white. However, these
people aren’t in the marching band, rather they are the alumni. Pictured to the right, these faithful graduates return yearly on the day of the homecoming football game to see how the school has changed
and support the current teenagers who attend the homeland of their glory days.
The turn out is only a handful, but energy is infinite. Consisting of a former band captain and a class of ’43 member, the group is lively and conserved at the same time. After hearing some current pep tune favorites such as “Boogie Wonderland” and “Fame,” an honorable song is played- “Hail Redondo,” the original ‘fight song’ of RUHS.
Many of the alumni are moved to tears as their own childhood is recollected.
Originally played in a moment of silence at games, many speak out to express the cultural importance of the tune. In fact, almost all were tested on memorizing it. In time, director Mr. Vizcarra hopes into reintegrate the Alma Mater into all sporting events.
After giving a supportive card from the marching band to the varsity football team, the coach laminated the card for all of Redondo Union to see at the homecoming game.
