A few thoughts about

POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT…

Start off on the RIGHT foot ….

ESTABLISH positive relationships with the parents & students

Panther Paws

REWARD positive behaviors

Give students PANTHER PAWS for making positive choices- DOING THE RIGHT THING!

Students can in turn place their name in a drawing for a prize

A few words about DISCIPLINE… Collaborate with the teachers

REINFORCE the positive

Document any parent communication

Strategies to use:

• Talk with the students at eye level

• Have the student identify the problem behavior

• Have the students work with you to identify a plan for improvement and/or a fair consequence

… the next step…. If student behaviors are impeding the

learning of others, how can administration help?

◦ Call the office to have administration talk with the student

◦ If the student is not responding to redirects & other interventions, the student can have a quiet place to “reflect” in the office.

* if you send a student to the office, please call the office prior to sending them.

Send work to the office within 30 minutes of sending the student to ensure that learning is continuous.

… and the next step….

If there is an ongoing pattern of behavior, interventions have been implemented, and parent contact has been made, the next step is writing a discipline referral.

BUS AIDES

Bus aide assignments have been made-must have a PHYSICAL completed

All IA’s are expected to be available if a SUB is needed.

Bus aides need to find a sub if one is needed and record it in the bus aide book at the front desk

(bus #-- AM or PM- sub)

PANTHER PAWS ON THE BUS

REINFORCE positive behaviors on the bus by giving students Panther Paws

Help the bus driver by enforcing the BUS ESSENTIAL AGREEMENTS

LUNCH DUTIES- ARRIVAL All IA’s will enforce the lunch essential

agreements in the cafeteria. (in your folder)

The first class in cafeteria will go straight to the line.

All remaining classes will sit in their assigned seats and wait to be called to the line by the cafeteria staff.

No students should be out of their seats-if they need anything, they raise their hand.

LUNCH DUTIES- DISMISSAL

Dismissal should begin FIVE minutes prior to the end of the lunch period. (QUIET TIME)

Dismiss a COLORED table group at a time.

One lunch supervisor should clean tables

One lunch supervisor should dismiss tables

One lunch supervisor should stand by trash cans to ensure students maintain order

Students should return to their seats after emptying their trays to wait

for their teachers.

Three students at grades 2-5

can be selected to sweep the cafeteria.

Nuts & Bolts…. Schedule- please use the attached schedule

template to document your daily schedule. Turn in to me no later than Friday, August 26.

Dress Appropriately- you are a role model for our students. They look up to you!

Be on time- follow your schedule and be where you should be on time. Our students are counting on you!

Payroll…. Review the payroll procedures and they are

responsible for completion per two week pay schedule submitting to office (Carol Bolles) at completion of 2nd week.

First one is due Aug.22nd

Must be completed in BLACK ink ONLY

Sub -finder – if you are to be absent you must report your absence on subfinder. Be specific about your position. ( gr.lvl- or resource, etc.)
