The Valletta Waterfront is a stunning and award-winning view on the Island of Malta. There are nineteen beautifully restored 16th century warehouses and bastions, built during the Baroque period, stretching along the water’s edge. The heritage buildings have been transformed into a diverse variety of lively restaurants and retail outlets.

Truly iconic gemstones, these buildings were originally built as stores by the Knights of St. John. The beautiful doors have now been revived with an artistic impression of colour. The colours signify the storage of goods with blue for fish, green for produce, yellow for wheat and red for wine.

Located centrally within walking distance from the capital city of Valletta and 15 minutes from the airport, the Valletta Waterfront oers the perfect backdrop for a wide variety of events with flexible indoor and outdoor options. The expansive 275 meter strolling promenade has been a favourite site for promotional launches, cultural events and a preferred backdrop for film and television.

Renowned for its versatility, the Magazino Hall proudly displays its historical features from a glorious past. Situated just below the famous Valletta bastions, the Magazino Hall was built in 1727 as part of the original building where vats stored oil for street lamps. In the middle of the 19th century gas lamps were introduced in the harbour area and the building was incorporated within the island’s first power house. Once inside, there is an impressive arched ceiling and the indigenous yellow limestone glistens with the cast of soft lighting. An adjoining outdoor courtyard is convenient for use as a breakout area. Natural rooftop skylights and versatile area can comfortably accommodate 500 to 600 persons standing.

Magazino Hall

The original building was erected during the time of construction of the Floriana fortifications in the 1700’s. This historic building has taken many turns in history, before being transformed and operated as Malta’s first electricity production plant on the island. Originally, the Old Power House was utilized to store vats with fuel for lamps and was later converted into coal stores at the turn of the 20th century. This building is in reality a fascinating layering of spaces and reflects the multiplicity and variety of activities that has formed part of the Grand Harbour over the centuries. The rustic structure with high ceiling and architectural features of the building display an interesting contrast between old and new for a wide variety of events.

Located directly on the Valletta Waterfront is a hidden treasure unknown to most, the Sagrestia Vault. Annexed to a 16th century vault, is a Chapel dedicated to the Flight of the Holy Family to Egypt, is a small, intimate chapel yet beautifully detailed. The narrow facade ensures it will not be dominated by the large warehouse vaults and embraces all the typical elements of a larger domineering church. This demure structure makes this a unique and intimate venue. In combination with the Sagrestia Vault, the Chapel can be utilised as a receiving area, an exciting entrance displaying an exhibition or an intimate cocktail reception area following a film premiere or concert. It is truly a little gem on the Valletta Waterfront.
