Warren Management Group gave the gift of warmth to an assisted living community. We gave 90 blankets, socks, toiletries, PJ’s for women and men, and stockings filled with goodies! Truly blessed because Brookside had nothing come in this year for their residents. Lots of tears of joy! The items were collected from all of our communities over the Annual Meeting season. Stonebridge contributed 15 of the 90 blankets, socks and slippers.

The Hats, mittens and scarves that were collected from Stonebridge went to a homeless shelter.

Manager's MessageWater Supply Well No. 6 – Progress Report

The new water supply well site no. 6 (across from the High School on the south side of Londonderry Dr.) is proceeding on schedule. The drilling of two new wells at this site was completed in November on time and under budget. The big sound wall and the well driller’s rig is now gone. A big thank you to nearby neighbors who put up with the sound wall during 24-hour drilling operations. During the coming months the District will be installing pumps, motors, and electrical controls to complete the project. We’re hoping the new wells will be on line before spring irrigation begins. The water provided by the new wells will help the District keep up with the needs of our growing Meridian Ranch community.

New Equipment Provides Faster Snow Removal

The District provides snow removal services on District maintained walking trails throughout Meridian Ranch. For years, our staff braved the cold, wind, and snow while using lightweight quads to remove snow from trails. Conditions were so cold that this was 2-person operation – one on the open-air quad removing snow and another following in a heated pickup truck – they would switch positions every few minutes to stay warm. In December, the quads were replaced with a Komatsu RTV with enclosed heated cab. The RTV is much faster at removing snow and the heated cab makes this a one-person operation. The new RTV can also be fitted with other attachments that will make other grounds maintenance operations more efficient.

District Board Approves Budget and Fee Schedule for 2020

After considering public input at an informal evening workshop in November and a formal public hearing in December, the Board of Directors of the Meridian Service Metropolitan District adopted the 2020 Budget – a balanced budget requiring a 3% increase in residential fees. The fee increases for 2020 will typically impact Meridian Ranch residents by an additional $5.15/month in their total combined utility bill. This is less than half the increase of last year. The complete 2020 Fee Schedule and 2020 Budget is posted on the District’s website at www.meridianranchmetro.org. The new fees take effect on January 1, 2020.

For our typical Meridian Ranch residential customer, the changes in services fees for 2020 are summarized below:

Service 2019 Fees $/mo

Increase $/mo

2020 Fees $/mo

Water Resource 33.00 - 33.00

Water Use up to 5,000 gallons 17.25 - 17.25

Sewer 45.50 1.40 46.90

Recreation 49.25 - 49.25

Parks & Grounds 21.25 3.60 24.85

Street Lights 4.65 0.15 4.80

Total 170.90 5.15 176.05

The fee increases for 2020 are very modest considering the Colorado minimum wage increased 8% and the local Consumer Price Index was about 3%. The essential public services provided by the District continue to be a bargain when compared to the cost of internet, cable, and mobile phone services.

D49 News • January 6th - Professional Development Day – No School

Counseling Updates - E-Days at Falcon High School: The Pikes Peak Region has already experienced numerous inclement weather days this semester, so keep your eyes open for communication on the possibility of an E-Day Schedule during future weather events. Falcon High School may call an e-day when the rest of District 49 is on a two-hour delay or closed due to inclement weather. When a FHS E-day is called, students will not come to campus, but will instead attend school online through Schoology. Learn more about E-Days on the Falcon High School Leadership Updates webpage!

2020-2021 Academic Registration: Registration for the 2020-2021 school year begins in January! Please begin considering all of the endless options for your class registration. Your grade level counselor is a great resource to discovering the vast amount of pathway options at Falcon High School. Additionally, Falcon High School will host an academic showcase for students containing informational sessions on our specific pathway opportunities! This event will take place on January 16, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

New Courses at Falcon High School: Pathway opportunities are expanding at Falcon High School! Please watch for increased opportunities within our Agriculture, English Language Arts, Special Populations, and Performing Arts programs at FHS. Opportunities continue to grow for Falcon HS Students!

Falcon High School Schedule Change Process - Spring Semester: Schedule changes will be made only for the following reasons:

• The student has an open period or two classes scheduled at the same time

• The student has already taken the class

• The student does not have the proper prerequisite

No changes will occur for the following reasons:

• Requesting a different teacher or lunch period

• The student signed up for the class and has changed their mind

• The student wants to have classes with a friend

Students that wish to make schedule changes must pick up a form in counseling.

Work on your grip indoors. Winter is a per-fect time to correct or tweak your grip. If neces-sary have a professional golf instructor show you a proper grip, or buy a club at your local golf store

with a training grip attached. Keep the club inside your house during the winter and work on your grip several days a week. While watching TV, grip the club during each commercial and hold it until the commercial is over. Ce-

lebrity PGA teaching professional Michael Breed also recommends wrapping paper around the grip of a regular club. Practice holding the club with a grip so light that the paper doesn’t make a crin-kling sound. Breed maintains that this teaches you to hold a club without tension in your hands and arms.
