August Holidays Wisdom Way Martial Arts will be CLOSED Saturday, August 2nd while our instructors attend the 4th annual iCAT Conference. We will also be CLOSED Monday, August 18th through Thursday, August 21st for our annual summer break. Classes will resume on Saturday, August 23rd. Karate College 2008 Kyosah Dennis Campo, Emily Zocchi (“Miss Emily”), Steven Maytan, B.J. Campo, and Allegra Copland attended the 21st annual Karate College summer camp on the beautiful campus of Radford University in Virginia, from June 26th through June 29th. More than 200 martial artists from around the world gathered for the opportunity to train with our Grand Master, Joe Lewis (Kickboxing), as well as Bill “Superfoot” Wallace (Superfoot Systems), Michael DePasquale Jr. (DePasquale Ju-Jitsu), Joe Hess (Karate), Mike Lee Kanarek (Israeli Special Forces Self-Defense), Mike Allen (Rhythm and Footwork), Ian Marshall & Robb Buckland (F.E.A.R.S.), the team of Renzo Gracie, Tim Mannon, and Paul Creighton (Brazilian Ju-Jitsu), Mark Hatmaker (Submission Grappling), Willie “The Bam” Johnson (Kung Fu) and this year’s special guest, UFC Middleweight Champion Matt “The Terra” Serra.

Miss Emily made her Karate College teaching debut as she and Kyosah Campo taught a children’s mixed martial arts session on Saturday afternoon. Their session focused on teaching the children how to “bridge the gaps” between the four basic fighting ranges – kicking range, punching range, trapboxing range, and finally into grappling range, including a takedown to knee-on-belly, into a ground-and-pound. A graduation ceremony was held on Saturday evening to honor all camp participants who trained hard during the event and included an exciting demo by Willie “The Bam” Johnson’s demonstration team. Karate College 2009 is scheduled for June 25th to June 29th. We hope to see you there!!!

Martial Arts University 2008 Soke Michael DePasquale Jr.’s annual Martial Arts University is tentatively scheduled for November 8th – 9th in Suffern, NY. An extensive children’s Mixed Martial Arts program is scheduled as part of this event and Wisdom Way’s Miss Emily and Kyosah Campo will be two of the featured instructors. All Wisdom Way students are encouraged to attend. More information will be made available soon, so stay tuned! Goals Celebration On Sunday, July 27th, Wisdom Way Martial Arts held our sixth Pizza Party Celebration in recognition of those students who achieved their goals during the past month. Our students have achieved over 150 goals to date – GREAT WORK!!! Our next goals pizza party is scheduled for Sunday, September 21st at 12pm.
