Mrs. O’Connell’s Newsletter Week of November 7, 2016 Hello, The children did an amazing job with their Science Fair projects. I am so proud of them. Thank you for all of the parent support with the Science Fair. A special shout out to the parents for sending in Halloween treats and supplies for our Halloween celebration. We had a great day. Thank you to Mrs. Holm’s for helping the kids make glow in the dark slime. This week in School: Reading: We will be reading and watching videos all about Veteran’s Day. During our guided reading groups we will be reading all about the history of the voting process. Each group will have their own reading comprehension pack to complete by Thursday. Spelling: New spelling words go home on Monday. Spelling test is Thursday. Vocabulary: No Wordly Wise this week. I don’t want to give both spelling and vocabulary due to the short week. Writing: This week in school we will be writing our Veteran’s Day probe in writer’s workshop. I really want to review with the children how to write a proper summary. Your child has two study guides.Social Studies: Scholastic News and we will begin to learn all about the colonist coming to America. It is the second quarter of school and we are switching over from Science to Social Studies. We will begin to learn all about states and capitals. Spelling: Choose one activity off the spelling choice board, study for spelling test on Thursday.

Reading: Voting pack due Thursday. Scholastic News quiz due on Thursday.

Math: practice on Moby Max for 15 minutes a night.

Writing: Veteran’s Day probe due November 10th.
