Thank You At this time of year, it is good to reflect on

all that we are grateful for.

We come together from various

communities and work in harmony with

such mutual respect. This is inspiring.

I love working at RNES and I particular,

I truly enjoy our daily assemblies when the

National Anthem is played and sung with such Pride and passion. I now know the words and

they give me pride, fortitude and courage. We then pray together as a school. This is truly a

blessing. His late Majesty King Hussein and His Majesty King Abdullah II have shaped a

country that has remained an island of stability, tolerance and openness, despite being

buffeted by the winds of war, animosity and suffering. His Majesty King Abdullah II is awe

inspiring and we are truly grateful for his esteemed leadership and guidance. This leads us

on to further feelings of thanks.

First and foremost, I am grateful for the fantastic children at RNES and for the wonderful families that they come from. It is true that I have rarely worked with such amazing young people and it is a real privilege to be Principal of these wonderful students and future lead-ers of Jordan. Our children enjoy their learning and achievement as evidenced in fantastic HM Queen Rania Awards and through winning in sporting endeavors, teams, debates, etc. I am extremely proud of their Community Service and that they so noiselessly put caring into action. Our children are amongst the finest in Jordan and that is truly motivating for me in my mission to ensure they have the best learning opportunities. Our school is truly a place where people love to be. Secondly, I would like to thank our wonderful teachers who are humble, patient, kind and who show respect. RNES teachers have such great enthusiasm for their subject matter, show and don’t just tell, learn from their students, are positive and always smiling. We have a happy, hardworking body of professionals and for them I am truly grateful. Thirdly, thank you to our fantastic partners in education, our parents who work so hard to support our children. The care and appreciation that you show for your school is buoying and encouraging. Finally Thank you to our great administration team and for all that you do to ensure and to support such great learning and teaching.

I would deeply like to thank our Chairman, Mr. Said El Turk, who ignites such great enthusiasm at RNES and who is so abundantly passionate about learning, helping all in our team to unleash their personal creativity. Abu Zeid is an inspirational leader, articulating our school’s vision, our course of action and I am indeed grateful for the opportunity afforded to me to guide our great school to further prominence. Thank you, Mr. Chairman, for this opportunity to work with such a fantastic community of learners. I would like to share a poem with you all which for me evidences appreciation and fellowship as we continue along our shared journey through life. It encourages fortitude, confidence and resilience, essential skills for learning and shills for life in our children. Like many of Frost’s poems, ‘The Road Not Taken’ deals with appreciation, using nature as a metaphor, helping us to better self-reflect, timely at this closing of a year.

The Road Not Taken - Poem by Robert Frost Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim Because it was grassy and wanted wear, Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost

Happy Holidays

Wow! I cannot believe that term 1 has come to an end. Its unimaginable how time

flies. We have had so much fun working in centers and learning through play.

Our students are blending and reading. They are counting and writing.

Not to mention that they have learned the skills for life and are growing into

fantastic citizens.

I am so proud of the amount of progress that our early years has made in just one

term and I thank all of the parents for their support!! I am very proud of our Year 2

students. They are doing a fantastic job at meeting specific objectives targeted

through the Cambridge Curriculum. Our teachers have fully assessed each student

and have reported on the level that they are on.

Our Christmas party was held on today Thursday, December 21st. Students are

asked to dress in red or green attire. We had many exciting events for them.

Congratulations to the budding scientists in the Primary Section, who hosted a positively jam-packed Science Fair this week, a great way to showcase this term’s learning. The children had been working very hard for the last month, on projects focussing on a range of subjects from Life Cycles to, Deforestation, the internal organs and Recycling! The children had clearly employed a range of Learning Skills to put these together and Wow’ed the Chairman with their knowledge and understanding.

Look out in Term 2 for the Primary Section Recycling initiative, start saving your water bottles and bottle tops – we have a BIG PROJECT we will share with you soon!

Happy Holidays

Now, that secondary students can focus on the relaxing weeks of winter break. Winter break can provide students with the much-needed opportunity to take it easy and to give their minds a break from school work in between terms. Of course, while it's important to spend some quality time with your families and friends but also it is a chance for high school juniors and seniors, whose academic performances face especially high stakes with college admissions staff. So, it’s a good time to finalize your universities applications and submission of documents. During school hours we may never find the time to read a book or book series that we wish to, therefor you can explore new authors and genres, and maybe find something new that you never expected to enjoy. Also, students may use their time to review class notes and to get organized. There is no need to spend an inordinate amount of time during your vacation working ahead on school work, but there are likely at least a few small opportunities for you to make the back-to-school transition easier later. Wishing you all happy New Year and Happy holidays.
