A dual bolt system for service neutral connections has long been best practice here in New Zealand, and historically the GelCap-SL has only had a single service connection bolt, and although it’s been used without issue for more than 10yrs here, we got asked to adjust the design and incorporate a second bolt so when used as a neutral connection, the GelCap-SL would fit with current installation practices in and around the country.

The concept of these mechanical kits is based on the tried and proven CRSM-CT kits which use heat shrink technology to branch a single core service cable from a single core main cable. The service cable is then run into a pillar or TUDS to feed a house or other residence, we have simply included a UBR mechanical range taking connector and a BOCL clip with additional mastic for sealing the joint. The UBR connector with single or double service tap ensures a reliable branch connection for a single core service cable from a single core main cable. A branch off clip is provided to assist with the environmental seal between the cables and a wraparound sleeve with thermo-sensitive paint is provided for environmental and mechanical protection of the entire joint.

This product was designed in order to eliminate the risk of using an inappropriate connector and to remove the guess work by offering everything required to make the connection in a complete package.

This range offers solutions for cable sizes 25-300mm² (main) and 16-35mm2 (service). This does not phase out the existing CRSM-CT non mechanical kits but simply gives a mechanical option.

NEW – Snap Clamp Temporary Earth Sets

These spring loaded clamps make it extremely fast and easy to install the earths on overhead lines, the operator simply sets the preloaded jaw of each clamp and mounts them onto the application plate which is connected to a hotstick. Once the clamps are mounted to the application plate they are lifted above the conductor and pulled back down over it to snap into place.

These clamps are equally easy to remove, simply pull each clamp from the conductor with the clamp removal tool specifically designed for use with these clamps.

A three phase set with separate earth lead helps to reduce the amount of weight being lifted into the air while the looped shorting and earth set offers the convenience of everything already being connected (this is ideal for urban applications).

Based on TE’s Raychem products’ field-proven experience with HV products in harsh environments, the MVLC is designed to last. The material is UV stable as well as tracking and erosion resistant. The material is electronically cross-linked to create an extremely robust insulation system, ensuring many years of reliable operation in the harshest environments.

It is extremely cost effective because it is designed to insulate existing bare lines without costly conductor replacement expenditures or additional line hardware. The MVLC cover may be applied selectively on problem spans when temperatures are above 0°C.

To make application even easier, TE has designed a special tool that ensures fast and reliable application of the MVLC cover. The tool allows application on energised lines. MVLC attaches directly to the overhead conductor and remains stationary in a single location on each span. The tool can be manually or automatically operated. The tool forms, closes and feeds the MVLC cover along the conductor with speed and consistency. The MVLC hand tool also allows for quick installation on short lengths of conductor, especially good for use in substations.

Three sizes cover conductors from 16mm² right up to 800mm². Higher performance product is also available, please contact customer service for more detail.

MVLC line cover provides state of the art insulation to help prevent electrical outages caused by trees or wildlife coming into contact with distribution lines.
