The burn- ing question here is whether the well-publicized marketing program will be a trick or a treat. Proponents of the program feel that it wilt benefit the public and the pro- fession to the extent that the assessment will seem insignificant. Opponents aren't sure of its budget, subject matter, and most importantly, of the compounding effect it may have on the increasing problem of member retention in the ADA. There are no goblins or angels on the marketing issue, but rather a host of peo- ple wearing different costumes and playing different roles in the yearly ritual known as the Annual Session of the American Dental Association, October 20-25, 1984, Atlanta, Georgia. I encourage you to be there. Representatives of the American Association of Endodontists will attend wearing several different costumes. Many of our members will be presentors on the scien- tific program. Others will be serving as delegates, alternate delegates, members of councils, and chairmen of councils. The AAE will serve as host for the interspecialty meeting of all ADA recognized specialties. In addition, the Association will sponsor a meeting of AAE members serving as delegates and alternates to the ADA House of Delegates. This will be an informational exchange on issues directly and indirectly affecting our specialty Our Public and Prolessional Affairs Committee will again host a reception for ADA officers, trustees, and other officials of organized dentistry in a continuing effort to show our appreciation and to offer constructive input on behalf of the AAE and en- dodontics. Trick or Treating at the ADA ~ ~ if it's October and Halloween, then the annual session of the

American Dental Association can't be far away. Strangely ', enough, the emotions of excitement and anticipation that we

experienced as children on Halloween can be applied to the 125th anniversary of the ADA.

practitioner. No ghosts or skeletons he re . . j us t outstanding lectures in a town synonymous with southern hospitality.

For anticipation you can go trick or treating at the House of Delegates.
