Introduction

East West University

I. by a group of prominent academics, businessleaders, professionals and education

enthusiasts led by Dr. MohammedFarashuddin.II. After being accorded permission by the

Government under the Private University Act(Act 34) of 1992, East West University waslaunched in 1996.

III. Classes started in September 1996 with 6faculty members and 20 students in thepresent campus located at 45, MohakhaliCommercial Area, Dhaka.

IV. Today there are over 187 faculty members andapproximately 5000 students enrolled

through a process of selection.

Uses of computer in thisuniversity:

oStudents use computer for making assignment, web browsing, sending data throughinternet and for preparing presentation report.oo

In science faculty such as EEE, CSE use different software for operating IS. They usecomputer for making graphics and for developing different softwares.

oFinancial sectors of this universities use computer to record amounts that is given by thestudents. They also record other financial transaction arises from operating university.o

oTechnology department of this university uses IS for controlling the server network andrunning the internet connectivity.ooAdmission department of this university uses computer for recording student ID,transcript of s.s.c and h.s.c and for recording others issues.o

Limitations of computer system in EWU:

In their everyday use of computer they face someproblems and limitations. These are discussed in thefollowings:Students of this university only get one hourcomputer facility. As a result, student can not operate

computer frequently. Some time they fail to finishtheir work in time.They do not use any antivirus. As a result computer ishighly affected by the virus and become slow.

3. Computer users are not expert in operatingcomputer. Many student do not knowhow to operate computer and how to brows ininternet. So they do not get the pro properutility from computer.

Universities computers are very slow. As a result usersbecome board. It also kills users
