UK & IRELAND Autumn 2015

We took the theme ‘Brave’this year and had a Scottishelement about most of thethings we did.

Our Bible teaching wasbased on the life of Peter. Manycampers testified about thethings they had learned aboutbeing bold and coming backfrom defeat to receive God’sforgiveness. At the Junior campfire many shared their faithstories.

The teens really enjoyed theteam building program put onby the rangers in a local park, they even went back for raftbuilding the following day.Other ‘challenges’ including amidnight swim were includedin the programme.

We cannot thank the staffenough who gave up holidays

to come and work at camp, toshare their faith, enthusiasmand sometimes sleep.

The blessings still go on. Oneparent said her child told her hedid not want to come home, another thanked us for theteaching and care her childrenhad enjoyed.

BCM ANNOUNCESTHE DATES FORSUMMER CAMP2016We are pleased to say that wehave placed our booking withthe Windmill centre for camp2016. The dates for camp nextyear will be the 2nd till the 8thJuly.

If numbers of bookings are

Running a Teen camp and a Junior campon the same site and at the same timeworked really well. The programmes werecompletely separate but we shared mealtimes and the daily themes. This did leadto a busy camp.

larger than last year we mayalso consider a small ‘overflowcamp’.

SAVING SCHEMEFor many parents it is a biginvestment in their children’sfuture to send them to camp.

While we know a child willdevelop socially, physically andspiritually at camp, manyparents find the costprohibitive. So this year weplan to run a savings schemewhere any parent may pay asmall amount eachweek/month towards campfees. Please contact any if youfeel this.

SPONSOREDPLACESA few of our campers this yearreceived help paying their fees. This was largely because of thegenerosity of churches and

individuals. If you gave, let usthank you sincerely and saythat without the support ofthose who give and pray, campcould not function.

In 2016 we will face similarproblems as many of thechildren we minister to comefrom deprived backgrounds.Their parents have to makedifficult decisions about whatthey spend money on.

If you would like to help usmake that burden easier forthose who really need it, thenyou could give towards the costof a child going to camp. Pleasecontact our treasurer if Godlays it on your heart to give.

For it is by grace you have been saved, throughfaith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the giftof God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

no camp is complete withoutgood “banter” and wedefinitely had that this year. Both campers and leaderscaused a great deal of hilarityand made camp a highlight ofour summer. With good timeslike “wet and wild” and oursuper water fight where weplayed water games made this

camp one to remember.Throughout the week we all

grew closer together and madesome friendships that we aresure will be long lasting.Campers and leaders alikestepped out of their comfortzones and dared to try thingsthey hadn’t before. The themebeing “superheroes” meant we

encouraged this all week ineveryone.

We integrated the camps insome areas, such as hobbies, which meant leaders got to knowboth the younger and oldercampers. We baked, learned toplay chess, putting and do loombands among other things. Werotated these activities so we got

This year’s camp was held in Barton near Weston in August– it was our first adventure into joint Junior and Teen campthe same week.

to know many others. In otherareas such as Bible teaching welearnt in our age groups.

With these camps beingintegrated we saw manydifferent styles of leading andworking together. While thiscamp was very enjoyable it wasa great learning experience forall involved. So whilst weserved we were also served.

The most exciting part of theweek was Christmas in Augustas we looked at the ultimatesuperhero in Jesus. Theyoungsters woke up to typicalChristmas morning withdecorations and carol singing. We had presents andChristmas dinner and a partyin the afternoon. It was lovelyto do this without thecommercial hype that happensin December so we saw the truemeaning of Christmas.

Pray for us as we plan nextyear’s camp and that it will bejust as, if not more enjoyablethan this one. Thank you forpraying for us this year and foryour continuing support.

JUNIOR CAMP:Well, it was a bit of a rockyroad to junior camp this year!!We were short some leaders, and five of the leaders we didhave needed to pull out forvarious reasons.  It was a casewhere we needed to  fully relyon God to provide the leadershe needed for his camp.  Andhow our God alwaysprovides!

Looking back after camp hasfinished, I can clearly see whyhe gave us the leaders we had. From children who werehomesick, to some who were,to put it politely, ‘excitable’and ‘full of energy’(!!!) the

leaders we had were patient, caring, and loving.  Theywere    great ambassadors  forChrist for the whole week.  Westarted off each day praying foreach other, the children andfor the day ahead, and endedeach day praying for eachother, the children and a goodnight sleep for all!  To have ateam of leaders who were sodedicated was such a blessingand made my job as director ajoy.

The 44 children between 8-11yrs old loved every minute ofcamp.  From canoeing tocompetitions, waterslides to

worship,  talent shows toteaching.  We had charades, plate spinning and crafts; Bibletimes, small group timesand  evening specials!  Godblessed and taught us all aboutjust how much he loves usright where we are.

It was a privilege and ahumbling honour to work withOur Father teaching andloving his precious children.

YOUTHCAMP:Youth camp has been a greatweek for teenagers fromaround the country to enjoytime away from the pressuresof everyday life.

Our campers engaged withthe excellent morning andevening teaching slots andwith the help of their leaders, looked at how to apply whatwas learned and experiencedfor life back home.

It was a truly great week, enjoyed by all. We pray it haseternal significance in thelives of all those who spentthe week at Castledaly.

We thank God for all hedid through us and in us thisweek.

SENIOR CAMP:This year’s Senior Camp wasthe largest BCM camp atCastledaly Manor sinceacquiring the centre five yearsago. Sixty 11-14 year olds fromall over Ireland arrived on atypical rainy summer’s dayexcited for the week ahead.God lifted the rain throughoutthe week however, just at theright time, to allow the campersto enjoy outdoor games, a tripto the local shop, canoeing, andthe ever popular water-slide.

The theme for the week was

‘choices’ and our speaker,South African, Derick Stilwell, spoke engagingly about Biblicalexamples of both good and badchoices. he challenged thecampers to consider the choicesthey have to make and theresulting consequences. It wasso amazing to witness duringthe week, and hear later, that anumber of the campers hadmade the ultimate choice tocommit their lives to God. Letus give all the gEirelory to him.

What a summer was had through the gates of Mullartown house! In our39 years of running camps, this was the fullest summer we’ve ever hadwe ran 7 weeks of camp, had 480 campers and over 140 staff.

What a summer was hadthrough the gates ofMullartown house! In our 39years of running camps, thiswas the fullest summer we’veever had we ran 7 weeks ofcamp, had 480 campers andover 140 staff. Our theme thissummer was ‘blast to the past’.In our morning meetings atkids camps and family camp,we took the campers on anadventure in our time machine,to try and find Jesus, but thedials on the time machine werebroke and so each day weended up meeting a differentperson from the bible who hadeither been impacted by Godor Jesus (Moses, David, Pauland naomi), and then on the

final morning we asked thetime machine, not to take us tomeet Jesus, but to take us to themost important day in history, and it took us to the crosswhere Jesus had just died andwe met the roman soldier whowas deeply moved byeverything that he had justwitnessed, and our talk on theFriday was how we don’t haveto actually meet Jesus in orderfor him to make an impact anddifference in our life!

At our Junior teens andSenior teens camps, we reallyfocused on Jesus, and who Jesusreally is! And the big thing thatreally came from it was not toseparate our daily lives and ourspiritual lives, we need to be all

in and all one for Christ! We really did have 7

extremly successful weeks ofsummer camp, and somethingwe are always thankful for hereat Mullartown are our amazingteam in the kitchen, they arealways the first up in themornings, and no matter whatis asked of them they do it will agreat big smile. Cooking for100 people is never an easy task, but we can 100% say everymeal that was ate this summerwas absolutely delicious, honestly thank you to all ouramazing cooks and helpers!

The feedback we have hadsince summer camp has beengreat, below are a couple ofquotes!

Mum of 8 year old camper -“David loved week 4 kidscamp, and was really affectedby all hear heard and done, hisdorm leader encouraged him toread the book of mark aftercamp, and David has beendoing just that! Thank you forall you do at Mullartown!”

Summer camp leader – “Suchan amazing week at Mullartownhouse with our God who is so sopowerful and faithful! “Don’tjust survive in this life, conquer it

in Jesus’ name”Girl helping do dishes –

“Loved the past week with theseAMAZInG people serving amore AMAZInG God! Theyhave never made washing dishesmore fun in my life! SeniorTeens 2015 you did notdisappoint! Learning to putGod in my everyday andknowing that he is in control wasexactly what I needed to hearbefore going back to school!”

Parent of kid from week 5kids camp – “Glad to have Abihome after another brilliantweek at  Mullartown house! She had a total ball as well asbeing inspired and challenged.Thank you so much to all the

leaders and cooks. You alllooked like you had a greattime and have given my kidsfabulous role models to follow. Thanks again.”

All in all, campers lives werechallenged and changed thissummer, so much fun andlaughter was had in the midstof the madness that campbrings, and leaders stepped outof their comfort zones, andallowed God to work throughtheir lives and in their lives! Wecouldn’t have asked God tobless us anymore this summer, and are endlessly thankful thatGod allowed us to be part of allthat went on here atMullartown this summer!

God is love. Whoever lives in love, lives in God, and God in them1 John 4:16
