Different types of

employment:Employed

Being employed your entitled to £10,000 a year before you pay any taxes. Income tax and NI is payed by the employer as a part of the (pay as you earn) scheme.• Been employed your

security is secure as you have signed a contract with your company/employer.

• Because you have signed a contract you have set hours and therefore your not really that flexible.

Self employed

Been self employed your classed as a sole trader even if you have not told HM revenue and customs. • you have to pay your

own TAX, Rent and any additional costs for equipment you may need.

• Been self employed you can be flexible but you never know when your next job is or where it is at.

• Higher paid but not always guaranteed.

Unpaid worker

Unpaid workers are volunteers who don’t receive any pay so

therefore do not have to pay any TAX or NI

but they do gain experience and

knowledge about the job which can benefit

them in the future.
