PRE UNIVERSITY ACADEMY

We strive to provide our students with the tools necessary to achieve optimum levels in mathematics and language. At the same time, we strengthen two fundamental areas in order to help our students successfully face the academic challenges of the university: math comprehension, and reasoning and reading comprehension.

Students can obtain direct admission to the if they pass each

subject with a minimum score of 55% of the maximum possible score and accumulate a minimum of 600 points of the total possible maximum score (1000 points).

Students from the Pre-University Academy who are admitted to UP and pass the Math andLanguage courses with a minimum of 65% of the maximum possible score are exonerated from taking remedial courses in Math and Language.

This academy provides the knowledge required for students to meet the challenge of being admitted to the University and helps them adapt successfully to UP´s demanding academic life.

The Goal Achievement System, perfected during our over than 20 years of experience, uses the participants’ work experiences as the central core of course activities. From

TINKUYPATA INTERNATIONAL CENTER

4 week summer semesters and Travel Seminars lasting 2 to 5 weeks. The seminars include visits to companies, government institutions and various NGOs.

Students can choose elective courses taught in Spanish or English, as well as a Spanish as a second language course. These courses are for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in learning more about business and culture in Latin-America and Peru. The Summer in Cusco has three tracks, one in Business, and the other ones in Peruvian Culture and Community Outreach. All of them include access to extra-curricular activities, such as Quechua lessons and Andean music workshops.

Travel Seminars examine current issues related

We guarantee the academic content of our courses

each program. The center in Cuzco has an on-site coordinator who ensures that students have

any guidance they may need.

Our Tinkuypata International Center in Cuzco offers foreign students the opportunity to study in a unique historical and archaeological location. They obtain authentic intercultural experiences as well as credits that can be accepted by their home academic institutions.

We conduct theoretical and applied research

practical solutions on issues related to our main research areas. Our research is supported by the University itself, and by numerous national and international foundations and public and private sector entities.

Our main research areas are Macroeconomics and Economic Policy, Social Policies, Human Development and Civil Society, Business Management and Social Responsibility, Natural Resources and the Environment, International Economics and Business, and Regulation, Infrastructure and Competitiveness. Through our various activities, we promote pluralism of perspectives, train new generations of researchers, and produce new proposals for change.

In a world that is diverse and ever more connected, the Research Center contributes to the development and democratization of Peru through rigorous and ethical investigation of national and international realities by participating in public debate and public policy formation and through the education of leaders who have a vocation for excellence and social responsibility. Many of our researchers are also full-time professors at the university. We also have a growing number of part-time professors, associate researchers and student assistants.

OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS, the Center’s researchers have prepared more than 200 publications in Peru and 70 publications abroad, including books, book chapters and academic articles.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVES

SEKNWe are the only Peruvian University chosen by the Harvard Business School to join the Social Enterprise Knowledge Network (SEKN), whose objective is to expand the frontiers of knowledge and business practices through comparative research, shared knowledge, case-based teaching and strengthening the institutional capacities of participating universities.

WGCP Our Graduate School is the only Peruvian business school to participate in the Wharton School’s Wharton Global Consulting Practicum (WGCP). This global program includes social responsibility cases as part of the consultancies that it conducts with graduate students and professors.

AVINA This project supports important research and training programs at UP.

Leadership and Philanthropy Program in the AmericasThis program is sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and supports the Peru Promesa initiative, one of whose products is the “Social Responsibility for University Students Competition.”

This is an inter-university network dedicated to developing links between

national universities across the country in order to contribute to improving the quality of teaching and academic management. Since 1987, PIE has promoted a modern and up-to-date perspective on pedagogy and research in economics and business at national universities. Over the last 20 years, we have trained close to 900 professors from public universities in

The purpose of the UP Solidarity Fund is to support low income youth who have high academic potential. Wprofessional careers of students for 5 years of study. The loans must be paid back once the student graduates and successfully enters the job market. The UP Solidarity Fund provides a real opportunity to change the futures of many young people who are very good students, proactive, and have the potential to become leaders by providing them with access to a quality education.

STUDENT EXCHANGES

We have more than 100 agreements for student exchanges with institutions in Europe and North America. Our students can spend one academic semester abroad. Generally, participants pay tuition at their home universities but are responsible for paying their plane fares, lodging, food, personal expenses, health insurance, books and other study

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM FOR BUSINESS INTEGRATION AND VISITS (PIVE)

Through PIVE, we promote permanent contacts between our students and local and foreign businesses. In this way, students not

INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS

(ORI) is responsible for negotiating international agreements with foreign institutions. ORI encourages exchanges of students and professors, promotes joint research, facilitates access to scholarships and opportunities for study abroad, and establishes guidelines for inter-institutional cooperation.

PROGRAM FOR VISITING STUDENTS (STUDY ABROAD)

Foreign students who want to study at UP have the option of coming for a semester or a year and can obtain credits for the courses they complete satisfactorily. At the end of their studies at UP, foreign students receive an o�icial transcript that they can use to earn credits at their home universities. No formal agreement between institutions is required.
