    Use of the Sport Premium funding in order to enhance the quality and breadth

    of PE and sports provision

    PE is part of every childs entitlement to a good education. It provides pupilswith the

    generic skills, knowledge and understanding they need to become physically literate,

    and at the same time gives most of them their first regular experiences of sport.

    When taught well, PE enthuses and inspires pupils to participate fully and develop a

    life-long love of physical activity, sport and exercise.

    (Ofsted (2013): Beyond 2012 Outstanding Physical Education for All)

    Sport Premium funding

    This funding is ring fenced and can only be spent on improving provision of PE &

    sport in school.

    Department for Education guidance states that possible uses for the funding may be:

    hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primaryteachers when teaching PE

    paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE andsport

    providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development inPE and sport

    running sport competitions, or increasing pupils participation in the School

    Games buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE

    and sport

    providing places for pupils on after school sports clubs and holiday clubs

    The Sport Premium allocation for Parklands (based on the number on roll) is 8,575.

    5,002has already been received into the school budget. 3,573will be received in

    the new financial year.

    In order to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sports provision at Parklands,we have linked with Premier Sport. Premier Sport has worked closely with us to

    improve PE and sport by:

    Improving childrens level of engagement and learning

    Delivering innovative, differentiated lessons and extra-curricular clubs.

    Carrying out pupil questionnaires to review the childrens view of PE and

    Sport within the school.

    Increasing the variety of sport on offer at school

    Providing summative assessment of children against PE learning outcomes,which are reported to class teachers half termly

    Using a structured PE planning and assessment framework to ensure the

    childrens progress is monitored.

    Working with school staff to complete long term, medium term and short term

    planning

    Providing quality assurance of lessons via joint lesson observations withPremier Sport and school SLT.

    Improving levels of physical activity and health awareness

    Supporting children to increase levels of physical activity engagement and

    fitness levels

    Children complete baseline fitness level tests and reassess throughout the

    year.

    Increasing engagement in competitive sport

    Working with local schools to provide a network for competitive games

    following participation in extra-curricular clubs.

    Inclusion opportunities

    Providing a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, covering the age range

    ReceptionY6 across the year.

    Providing clubs for children of all ability levels.

    Sustainable PE and School Sport Provision

    Building a strong rapport with teaching staff, children and parents

    Providing CPD for teaching staff so that subject knowledge of PE can be

    improved, so that teachers are more confident and competent to deliver PE

    Embed impact of Junior Sports Leaders in school to provide additional

    opportunities for able pupils and support younger children in appreciating

    value of sport and healthy lifestyles

    It is our aim to encourage all children to lead a healthy lifestyle and make better

    choices on how to lead an active lifestyle.

    We have made a commitment to improve the quality of PE and sports provision and

    this year we have:

    Employed qualified coaches to deliver high quality lessons and provide

    weekly after school sport on the school site

    Procured quality-assured professional training for staff to raise their

    confidence and competence in teaching PE and sport

    Paid external coaches to run competitions and increase pupil participation

    Quality assured the work of coaches employed to coach in PE lessons andafter school clubs

    To ensure that this partnership is successful and measure the impact of it, we will

    complete the following:

    Undertake baseline assessments of childrens fitness levels and reassess

    these throughout the year

    Survey those children who attended after school clubs

    Gather data to find levels of children engaging in sport via school

    Quality assure the provision from Premier Sport via lesson observations

    Routinely monitor quality of teaching by class teachers to see that training

    received has been beneficial
