Ablative of Means - Used to describe WITH WHAT or USING WHAT something was done - If “by means of” can be substituted in, it is ablative of means - Uses no prepositions - Ex. The smoothie was made with a blender. Ablative of Separation - Used to show separation from something - Usually there is no preposition, but sometimes a/ab, de, e/ex is used - Ex. The light frees us from fear. Ablative of Place From Which - Used to show physical motion from a place - Almost always uses the preposition a/ab (by/from) - Ex. We all ran from the burning building. Ablative of Place Where - Used to show where something is - Used with “in” + ablative - Ex. She was in the candy shop.
