VACUUM INSULATED TUBING

NK-VIT

NK-VIT Vacuum Insulated Tubing

designed and manufactured by

Nakasawa, provides a technical

solution to today's well completion

challenges. Our NK-VIT product

line consists of specific models

optimized for different types of

thermal completions.

NK-VIT consists of a concentric

tubes set (outer and inner tube),

which have a high vacuum

atmosphere that is achieved mechanically and chemically by vacuum pumps to activate the Hydrogen and Gases

Getter until reaching the pressure of absolute zero, mitigating heat losses in the annular space between both tubes.

Additionally, NK-VIT has multi-layer insulation (Silica,

Ceramic, Fiberglass and Aluminum diffusing barriers)

that eliminate convective heat transfer and reduce the

conduction and radiation effect, maintaining a high

quality steam injection.

The inner tube is pre-stressed in order to compensate

the elongation between both tubes, and it is welded

to outer tube (Double weld). Supersonic,

Radiographic, and Magnetic Particle Inspection

(Magnaflux) Tests are performed to ensure the

integrity of all connections, joints, and welds.

“NK-VIT protects the integrity of all elements and

steam delivery performance to the reservoir”

ADVANTAGES AND APPLICATION OF NK-VIT IN THERMAL PROCESSES:

Reduces heat loss ensuring optimal steam quality being injected into the oil formation.

Prevent excessive heat transfer into the

near-wellbore area.

Minimizes heat stress on well casing and cement mantle.

Injection of superheated steam (at 680 °F)

or hot water into the reservoir in order to heat high-viscosity oils.

Decreases unwanted annulus pressure. Prevent deposition of asphalts, resins and

paraffin.

Improves well life cycle cost and avoids failure due to well integrity issues (Improvement of tubing runlife: 3 to 5 injection cycles).

Optimization of Steam Stimulation Cycles

(Reduction of injection times).

Important technology for the economic production of deeper heavy oil fields (+ 6000 feet deep). During production pump efficiency will be improved.

Applicable to Heavy Oil Production through Cyclic Steam Stimulation, such as: CSS, Steam Flooding, SAGD, SW-SAGD, HASD, In-Situ Combustion).

MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND PREMIUM

CONNECTIONS:

The manufacturing process is carried out in accordance with API 5CT and ISO standards (Last Edition), meets and exceeds the technical specifications required by clients.

Our Engineering & Design Team is continually developing product innovations regarding vacuum / insulation properties and client specific needs, including connection technology (API Buttress, semi-premium and premium connections). Nakasawa also manufacture insulated crossovers (different sizes), and Pup-joints with special connections.

Our NK-VIT Connections are fully interchangeable with many Premium Threads, such as: JFEBER, VAM TOP, FOX, CS-Hydrill, among others. The connection can be manufactured as a flush or semi-flush joint (in the outer or inner tube), which is used in thermal tubes of different diameters.

NK-VIT Connection design provides 100% of resistance and tensile efficiency for the couplings. Robustness, high torque capability, compression strength are its main features. High structural performance allows high compression and tension strength in deviated holes without affecting thread integrity.

Connection Performance Envelope

“All our products are manufactured under

strict high quality standards”

NK-VIT BASIC DESIGN (VACUUM THERMAL INSULATION):

Reference: NK-VIT Design for 4-½” x 2-⅞” Size.

K FACTOR (QA/QC SYSTEM) AND INSULATION

GRADE:

Each VIT joint is tested for insulation.

The apparent K-Factor is verified by the use of a fully

automated testing system using an integrated

heating element inside the inner tube at 350°C while

the outer tube is monitored by a sensor.

The data from the K-Factor test is verified, collected

and stored in a customized computer system.

K values and Insulation Grades

INSULATION AT THE COUPLING (PTFE):

The vacuum sleeve manufacture by Nakasawa has a

main component, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE),

which resist high temperature (upto 680°F) and

provide stability to the steam injection process.

Coupling with vacuum sleeve provides better

insulation; the tests performed using this type of

insulation on connections between joints describe

low heating loss or null heat transfer from inside of

VIT to its external side (annular space).
