As you know, Prince of Peace School operates on 6 values we strive to exemplify on a daily basis: community, all in, transformation, service, justice and joy. In previous months, your child has learned about the values of community and service. This month our focus is on the value of joy. As a school we want to bring joy to everyone’s daily lives by celebrating growth and success, spreading positivity, and being proud of our school community. You may have noticed we are bringing joy to the school day through shout-outs for students, staff and parents, Spirit Wear Days, school events such as Breakfast with Santa, Family Nights, Field Day and Monster Mash. We celebrate students through attendance awards, Leader Lunches and Archangel Awards. We know Jesus brings us great joy in our lives. This month your child will learn about how joy is throughout bible passages. The message to us by God is one of joy! Students will study one bible passage and identify the joy within. They will learn joyful songs and will create a joyful display. If you have ways to bring joy to our school community, please share them with me! Candy Cane Lane When: November 28 through December 26 (6:00 pm - 9:00 pm on weekdays/5:00 -10:00 pm Sat- urday and Sunday) Cost: Small cash donation The neighbors worked in concert in decorating their homes and encouraged visitors to make a small donation as they drive through the festively enhanced neighborhood. Miller Valley - Holiday Lites When: December 1st through the 23rd. (Friday and Saturday nights only) Cost: Free Miller Valley is celebrating its 14th year of Holiday Lites! This is an indoor/outdoor walking tour so please come dressed for the weather! Please note: Our Holiday Lites tours will run every 20 minutes between 4:40 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. as advertised. Children of all ages are welcome, however strollers are not permitted on tour. Location:4251 W State Street, Milwaukee, WI 53208 Family Holiday Events around Milwaukee!

Value of Joy

Prince of Peace strives to create an environment based in faith, peace, and

family. We have a goal of having positive relationships between all stu-

dents and families. Through all of our hard work we can help accomplish

this goal by removing bullying from our building.

Bullying is :

When someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful

things to another person who has a hard time defending him/herself.

There is usually an imbalance of power, meaning the person doing the

bullying may be bigger, stronger, have more friends, or have authority

over the person he/she is targeting.

Help your child be an Up-Stander!

en contra de otra persona que tiene dificultades para defenderse a

sí mismo.

Suele haber un desequilibrio de poder, lo que significa que la persona que realiza la intimidación puede ser más grande, más fuerte, tener más ami-gos, o tener más autoridad sobre la persona a la que está atacando

Ayude a su hijo (a) a ser un defensor! - Estimular a su hijo (a) a incluir a bastantes niños como sea posible – invitar aquellos que puedan estar solos.

- Practicar con su hijo (a) lo que diría si él/ella presenciara cuando alguien está siendo intimidado. Prepararlos para

decir “Para, eso no está bien, eso no es gracioso.”

- Enséñeles bondad, perdón, y tolerancia – los niños que intimidan merecen la oportunidad de poder cambiar.

- Dar un buen ejemplo hablando en contra de la intolerancia en su propia vida y negarse a participar en chismes – Darles

el mensaje que no es aceptable ningún tipo de intimidación.

¡Vamos a hacer de la escuela Príncipe de Paz una escuela pacífica y alegre en esta temporada de vacaciones y durante to-do el año escolar!

Como ustedes saben, la escuela Príncipe de Paz opera en 6 valores los cuales nos esforzamos en ejemplificar diariamente: comunidad, todos juntos, transformación, servicio, justicia y alegría. En los anteriores mese el niño (a) ha aprendido sobre los valores de comunidad y servicio. Este mes nuestro enfoque es sobre el valor de la alegría. Como escuela queremos llevar alegría a todos en su vida diaria celebrando el crecimiento y el éxito, propagando positividad y estar orgullosos de nuestra comunidad escolar. Usted puede haber notado que estamos trayendo alegría a la jornada escolar a través del Anuncio de Elogios para los estudiantes, personal y padres de familia, al Vestir el Espíritu de Cooperación, eventos escolares como Desayuno con Santa, Noches Familiares, Día de Campo y Fiesta Monster Mash. Celebramos a los estudiantes a través de premios de asistencia, Almuerzos de Líder y Premios Arcángel.

Sabemos que Jesús nos trae gran alegría en nuestras vidas. Este mes su hijo (a) aprenderá acerca de cómo la alegría se manifiesta a través de los pasajes de la Biblia. ¡El mensaje a de Dios hacia nosotros es una alegría! Los estudiantes estudian un pasaje de la Biblia e identifican la alegría dentro del pasaje. Aprender canciones alegres y crearán una exhibición alegre. Si tiene ideas como llevar la alegría a nuestra comunidad escolar, por favor compartirlas conmigo!
