The first ever United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) was conducted in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil in 3-14 June 1992. Nearly about 172, 108 at level of heads of State or Government and Some 2,400 representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and 17,000 people attended the parallel NGO Forum. The main Agenda relates to, Declaration on Environment and Development, the Statement of Forest Principles, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. The Summit’s message — that nothing less than a transformation of our attitudes and behavior would bring about the necessary changes — was transmitted by almost 10,000 on-site journalists and heard by millions around the world. The message reflected the complexity of the problems facing us: that poverty as well as excessive consumption by affluent populations place damaging stress on the environment. Governments recognized the need to redirect international and national plans and policies to ensure that all economic decisions fully took into account any environmental impact. The Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro was unprecedented for a UN conference, in terms of both its size and the scope of its concerns. Twenty years after the first global environment conference, the UN sought to help Governments rethink economic development and find ways to halt the destruction of irreplaceable natural resources and pollution of the planet. Hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life were drawn into the Rio process. They persuaded their leaders to go to Rio and join other nations in making the difficult decisions needed to ensure a healthy planet for generations to come.

The first United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) gave as the inspiration to think in the concept of “one world” and this is the initiate from our side to improve the healthy atmosphere to lead a healthy and peaceful lifes.

Today no one is concerned about the dispose of waste in our locality; we are just dumping it in the streets, roads, and drainages.

There are Dustbins in the corners of every streets or big dustbins are placed in the main areas, but we are interested to go to dustbin and dump the garbage, by some distance we throw the garbage to that dustbin, if the garbage doesn’t get inside the dustbin and fell down in the road and streets we are not even bothered and we think the garbage is unlucky, it didn’t get in.

Effects:

The garbage which are dumped in the streets and road has been eaten or assimilated by animals like Cow, Dog, etc.,

The garbage contains the dirty pampers which are dumped in the streets and drainage will have access to mosquitoes and bees, then from that dirty pampers the bees fly to some of the eatables and excrete some things, which are the root causes for the many harmful diseases.

When the garbage dumps in the drainages, stops the flow of drainage water, which supports the female mosquitoes to lay their eggs, by which the population of the mosquitoes increases, and it spread some diseases like Dengue fever, Malaria, filarial and many more.

Survey conducted by the pollution control department says that the carry bags were found in the stomach of Cows. The majority of milk giving cows are having plastic.

After coming across all the pressing problems, as a humble student of economic and particularly in the context of sustainability. We approach to the local municipality for support, and we were very lucky that the local municipality extended their support with full cooperation.
