Chef Vinod Lohtia has lived in enough places that he could well be an ambassador of cuisine. Born and schooled on the Indian subcontinent, Vinod trained in Europe and honed his skills in central Canada where he currently resides.
Chef Vinod was born in Dehradun, India, and recalls a love of cooking from a young age. He studied
and obtained his Hotel Management and Catering Degree from the Institute of Hotel Management Catering & Nutrition in Delhi, India, and later became a Cooking Instructor for the institute.
Eager to learn more about the culinary industry, at age 20 he left India for the culinary footlights of Europe, cutting his teeth at places like the Vienna Intercontinental Hotel in Austria and London's Inn on the
Park. He met his wife Sarojini in Toronto and was later blessed with two wonderful children, Sheetal and Krish. In the same year Vinod landed a job at the Edmonton International Airport and the couple moved west. It was the start of several years at various operations in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Leading kitchens, being the Executive Chef, and gaining accolades as one of the ten best rated
restaurants offering international cuisine at his owned & managed Spice Rack Cafe, Chef Vinod is a culinary artist boasting varied experiences from restaurateur to a regular TV culinary personality, managing receptions for dignitaries and VIPs, tour leader, and more.
Vinod is currently a culinary teacher and personal chef, as well as a dedicated family-‐man as a
husband, father & grandfather.
Vinod has led numerous culinary tours, North India & Morocco among them. His knowledge of, and enthusiasm for the world and her cuisine is admirable, and a culinary journey with Tour East through Vietnam accompanied by his warm hospitality, lively personality, and passion for all things food is certainly a
