What is the VLA for?

• to provide an infrastructure for school leadership development at all levels

• to raise the profile of Essex as the authority of choice for present and future school leaders

• to strengthen both the quality and range of applicants for leadership posts in all areas of the county, thereby contributing to our target for all Essex children to attend a good or outstanding school

Our concept for the Virtual Primary Leadership Academy is that a single portal is the interface for all the provision and support available for leaders at all levels in Essex, and for those beyond Essex, who may be interested in working in Essex.

Research and case studies:Searchable library/database of current local, national and international leadership research and case studies provided through the EPLA provider schools.

Jobs This page includes information about and a link to the www.essexschoolsjobs.co.uk website, where users can register to search for vacancies in schools in Essex, Southend and Thurrock.There will also be a section on this page of the website detailing current leadership opportunities in Essex including executive head teacher roles, acting head teacher and deputy roles.

Careers pathways:A road map from NQT to executive headteacher, detailing at various “signposts” along the way the professional development opportunities available to users to help progress their careers.

Consultancy and Advice:This page will give access to a leadership blog for aspirant leaders written by the Head of the VLA, to include the opportunity for users to comment and interact. Information regarding the EES Education Consultancy offer will be found here with an online booking form.
