Awards
Nava Bharat Ventures Limited was accorded “Netmagic Futurist Award”, in December, for IT -Excellence in Manufacturing Segment by Netmagic, India’s leading Managed Hosting and Cloud service provider. It is an NTT Communications Company which is a part of NTT Group, a top 100 ranked corporation in Fortune Global 500. The award focuses on deployment of Next Generation Business Applications and Information Technology in the Manufacturing Segment and on excellence in Information Technology Services in other segments. The PP (T) received Certificate of Merit in thermal power stations sector at the “National Energy Conservation Awards 2016” function, organized by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Govt. of India, Ministry of Power, in December. The Management congratulates the Staff of Corporate IT Department and PP(T) for their achievements.

Projects - Overseas Zambia The 300 MW Power Project at Maamba, Zambia is in advanced stage of completion. Both the Units have been synchronized with the grid and have achieved full load capacity (150 MW each) under test conditions. The completion tests for taking over of the Units are in progress.
Training
The following training programmes were conducted during the quarter October – December: “Behavioral Attitude, Communication Skills & Work Planning” by Y. Nagendra Kumar, Trainer, MindTreat, Kakinada, for the Officers & Staff of Cane Department at the Sugar Division, in October & November. “5S Awareness and Demonstration” by internal faculty for both managerial and supervisory staff at Paloncha Works. “Safety in Operations” by internal faculty for both managerial and supervisory staff at Paloncha Works.

Departmentally Related Standing Committee (DRSC) – VIII led by Dr. Prafulla Majhi, MLA of Talsara Constituency, Sambalpur & Mr. Duguni Kanhar, MLA of Phulbani visited Odisha Works, in November, to study various issues related to labour & Safety. They were accompanied by Assistant District Magistrate, District Labour Officer and Assistant Director of Factories & Boiler, Dhenkanal. The DRSC expressed their overall satisfaction at the facilities provided by the Company to its workers.
Celebrations The “National Pollution Prevention Day & Chemical Disaster Prevention Day” were observed, at Odisha Works, from 2nd to 6th December. The programmes enhanced awareness among staff on prevention of Water, Air and Soil Pollution & on prevention and management of Chemical accidents. The Dy. Director of Factories & Boilers & the Asst. Director of Factories & Boilers witnessed the emergency preparedness mock drill of the Company on Chlorine gas
leakage at Power Plant (Odisha)
The “National Energy Conservation Day” was observed, at Odisha Works, on 14th December. To create awareness among employees, their children and students of Brahmani Public School, drawing & quiz competitions and debates were organised and prizes were given away
to the winners.

Celebrations Contd…. As part of the “16th Sugar Division Day” celebrations, “Rythu Sabha” was organized on 1st October at the Integrated Farmers’ Service Centre (IFSC), Samalkot. Mr. N. Prabhakar, Vice President, Sugar Division exhorted the farmers to adopt technology - oriented innovative agriculture and advised them to use the services of IFSC in obtaining bio-fertilizers, bio-control agents and tissue culture seedlings. Dr. Pamidi Venkateswarlu, Technical Advisor, Sugar Division, explained the sugarcane production technologies adopted by sugarcane growers of Tamil Nadu for higher sugarcane productivity. On this occasion, Dr. M. Bharat Lakshmi, Principal Scientist (Agronomy), Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Anakapalli, explained the various methodologies used for high sugarcane productivity. Mr. Subba Rao, Project Director, Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project (APMIP), East Godavari informed the subsidies and incentives given by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh to small, marginal farmers and weaker sections to take up micro irrigation. During the event, prizes were given away to growers who achieved the highest cane yields and to progressive sugarcane farmers,
for the crushing season 2015-16.

All the trainees of the 4th batch of “Tally course” who underwent training at NBVI, Paloncha, qualified in the online examination conducted by Tally Education Private Limited. Certificates were awarded to the participants at a ceremony organised at Nava Bharat Training Hall, Paloncha, on 27th December. Mr. N. Jijikumar, Regional Manager, Mr. Anup Kumar Barman, Asst. Regional Manager and Mr. N. Venugopal, Regional Training Partner of Tally Education Private Limited, Bengaluru, presided as Guests and gave away the certificates to the
participants.
Social Development The trainees of 2nd batch of Jute Product Making and 8th batch of Beautician course, who completed their training at Women Empowerment Centre (WEC), Paloncha, were awarded certificates at a ceremony organized, on 5th November. Smt. P. Jyothi Rao, Vice President, Smt. Padmaja Prabhakar, Secretary and Smt. A. Madhavi, Director of The Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India (ALEAP) attended the programme as guests of honor. They were impressed with the facilities at the WEC, Paloncha and the initiatives taken by the Company for the benefit of un-employed women.
The trainees of 11th batch of Tailoring course who underwent training at WEC, Paloncha and 4th batch of DTP course who underwent training at Nava Bharat Vocational Institute (NBVI), Paloncha were awarded certificates. Dr. N. Kishore Reddy, Director, Sri Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute (SRTRI) and Smt. RASP Latha, District Panchayat Officer, Kothagudem gave away the certificates to the participants at a ceremony organized at WEC, Paloncha, on 15th November.

Social Development Contd… The 4th Batch of “Fitters and Electricians” who completed their training at Nava Bharat Vocational Institute (NBVI), Samalkot, were awarded certificates on 5th December. Mr. N. Prabhakar, Vice President, Sugar Division, Samalkot gave away the certificates. Sugar Division helped 19 sugarcane farmers to procure Power Weeders. AP Horticulture Department has given 50% subsidy. Sugar Division subsidized it further and extended loans, recoverable against the cane supply proceeds of farmers in two crushing seasons (including ongoing crushing season). The Weeder helps the sugarcane farmer in removing weeds and aids inter-cultivation
operations in sugar cane fields.
Disease Prevention Government of Telengana identified 159
hamlets/ villages in the rural areas of
Bhadradri Kothagudem District as areas
affected with vector borne diseases like
Malaria, Dengue, etc. To help prevent such
diseases, our Paloncha Unit has taken up
Indoor Residual Spraying in these identified
hamlets/ villages. 60 hamlets/ villages
were covered during the quarter.

Education The students of Nava Bharat Public School (NBPS), bagged 19 prizes in various categories of events at the Balotsav organized by Kothagudem Club in November. A thematic exhibition “Parivarthan – Reduce Recycle Reuse Eco Impact” and cause oriented “Charity Fair” organized at NBPS, were inaugurated by Mr. A. Venkata Rao, Managing Director, NBEIL, on 23rd October. Mr. Y. Sreenivasa Murthy, Vice President, Paloncha Works and Mr. Mohammad Ali, Correspondent, NBPS were present at the function. The exhibition showcased the waste management procedures and illustrated the eco impact of Reduce, Recycle and Reuse concept. The proceeds from the Charity Fair were
donated to Sneha Vruddhashram, Amma
Anadha Sharanalayam, Kothagudem and
Angel School of Dumb and Deaf, Paloncha.

Sports The “38th Annual Sports Day” was celebrated by NBPS on 12th December. Mr. Ambar Kishore Jha, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Bhadradri Kothagudem District graced the function as Chief Guest and Mr. S. Anand Kumar, Mountaineer (the youngest boy to climb the Mt. Everest, at the age of 15 years years) was the Guest of Honor. Mr. Y. Sreenivasa Murthy, Vice President, Paloncha Works and the Guest of Honor presented cups to the individual winners in various games and athletic events and
trophy to the victorious house.
