Mr. Vishwas D. More, Member, Alamo Rotary Club, CA, U.S.A. visited SRIVIDYASRAM along with Mr. V. Swaminathan, Managing Trustee of the school.

Srividyasram was inaugurated on 18th June, 2002 and was dedicated to the memory of the Managing Trustees’ parents.

As you enter the High School, you can see Dakshinamurthi, the God of Knowledge and

Wisdom.

Lord Vinayaka, the Elephant God, greets you at the entrance.

Anjaneya, the Monkey God, guards the school.

445 children assemble to offer prayers before the

start of classes.

While addressing the children, Rtn. More showed the photograph of his grand daughter who had sent some books and gifts for the Srividyasram children.

Rtn. More dropped into everyone of 20 class rooms in the Primary School in two blocks (five floors) and interacted with the children and teachers.

A ‘Smart Class Room’ in the High School with computer and big screen TV. All rooms in the High School will have similar facilities.

The Computer Room donated by Cognizant Foundation. Rtn. More spent quite some time talking to the children working there.

The rest of the upper floor (4 rooms and 2 halls) will be completed by June 2010. A class room costs Rs. 500,000 ($11,000) and a hall costs Rs. 750,000 ($15,500). Contributions are welcome.

The High School Building under construction. The entire ground floor, with 8 rooms and 2 halls, is ready. RCC roof has been laid over the Eastern Wing on the upper floor with 4 rooms.

The visiting Rotarians donated to Srividyasram 90 sets of benches and desks and lab furniture and lab equipment, apart from books for all the 445 children. Srividyasram thanks the two Rotary Clubs for their munificence.

Text books for all the 445 children were donated by the Rotary Clubs.

Rtn. More received a number of greeting cards from the students of Grade 7.

Rtn. More shows to the children the distance between Alamo and Aduthurai.

A view of the science laboratory. The furniture and equipments were donated by the Rotary Clubs.

The Chemistry Lab (40’ x 20’) was built with donations raised in Contra County, CA, USA by David C. Mueller by offering his carpentry and plumbing skills to his friends, who sent in their donations to Srividyasram.

Some of the 90 sets of benches and desks donated by the Rotary Clubs.

A modern kitchen that cooks for 500 persons. Children eat in the Dining Hall built with contributions made by David Mueller and his friends.

Rtn. More witnessed the mass drill performed by children of Grades 6 and 7 in the lush school play ground.

Karate demonstrations were performed for Rtn. More.

The visitors met the teachers and congratulated them for their fine work. The visit ended with vote of thanks to the Rotary Clubs and their representatives. Silver mementoes were presented to the two Clubs.
