Now the number of UAF PhD club has been raised to 1163. SITUATION VACANT 1. Applications are invited form the eligible candidates

having B.Sc./M.Sc. in the relevant field with at least CGPA 3.00 for appointment as Assistant Executive Engineer (Lab. Engineer) BPS-17 in the Departments of (1) Farm Machinery & Power (2) Structures and Environmental Engineering (3) Food Engineering (4) Irrigation & Drainage and (5) Energy Systems Engineering. Application form can be downloaded from the university website www.uaf.edu.pk. Last date for receipt of applications in the office of Dean, Faculty of Agri. 2. Applications are invited for one post of a Student Fellowship @ Rs. 15,000/- per month plus tuition fee/dues available in the HEC funded project entitled “Improving salt tolerance in wheat through multi-strain bacterial consortium”. Applicant should be student of M.Sc. (Hons) Soil Science/Environmental Science preferable having experience related to Soil Microbiology and Biochemistry. The applications should reach the office of the Dr. Sajid Mahmood Nadeem, PI, Sub-Camus UAF, Burewala, Vehari or the office of Prof. Dr. Zahir Ahmad Zahir, Institute of Soil & Environmental Sciences, within 7 days after the publication of this notice.

Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate under research project No. PSF/NSLP/P-AU (167) sponsored by Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad in the Department of Poultry Science, UAF. The candidates are required to possess M.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in the field of Information and Communication Technology/Computer Science/Bio-Informatics with at least two first divisions (one in M.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons)) and no third division in the academic career. Experience of post M.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons) research in the relevant field will be given preference. The selected candidates will be paid Rs. 12000/- pm fixed but if she/he is enrolled in M.Phil and PhD program, she/he will be paid Rs. 15000/- and Rs. 18000/- pm, fixed respectively. However, she/he will be required to sign a bond for entire duration of the project. The applications may be submitted on plain paper and should be accompanied by attested copies of certificate/testimonials/CNIC/Domicile and a latest photograph. Applications are invited from Pakistani nationals who are not married to a foreign national, for the post of Research Associate in an International FICP funded research project titled “Studying plant defence responses in oilseed rape (Brassica napus) for sustainable pest management” being run by Dr. Jam Nazeer Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, UAF, Pakistan, on the prescribed format obtainable free of cost on any working day during office hours from the office of the Registrar (Personnel Section) or from the university website i.e., www.uaf.edu.pk. Details are as under: One Research Associate and one PhD research fellow on temporary basis each at consolidated pay Rs. 25,000/- per month. (Qualification: M.Sc. (Hons) /M.Phil in Entomology/Agri.Entomology with minimum CGPA-3.00) and he/she must be enrolled in PhD program in Entomology/Agri. Entomology. One M.Sc. research fellow at consolidated pay Rs. 15,000/- per month (Qualification:- B.Sc. (Hons) in Entomology/Agri. Entomology with minimum CGPA-3.00). Preference will be given to candidates having research interest/experience in the insect Molecular Biology/Biotechnology with special focus on Molecular Insect-Plant Interaction regarding Genes Expression Regulation. Two copies of application are required along with attested copies of the certificates. Incomplete application or those received after the due date will not be entertained. PhD THESIS/SYNOPSIS DEFENSE 1. Due to non-availability of committee member as well as on 27-09-2014, now the new date for the

thesis defense entitled “Biochemical and Nutraceutical Analysis of Wild and Commercial Mushrooms” of Miss Sumaira Sharif, Regd. No. 2002-ag-727, student of PhD Biochemistry, Department of Biochemistry will be 30-09-2014 at 02:30 pm in video conference room. All interested are invited to attend.

2. Mr. Azhar Hussain, Regd. No. 2010-ag-531, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences has successfully re-defended his synopsis in a seminar at the University level on 19-09-2014 at 10:00 am in the Library of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences. The title of his synopsis is “Efficacy of Bio-activated Zn for improving yield and quality of maize”.
