Applications are invited for two posts of Research Associate @ 20,000/- per month in the PARB funded research project titled “Composite flour technology: A step towards managing malnutrition and food security in Pakistan”. The appointment will be purely on contract basis. Applicants are required to have qualification of M.Sc./PhD enrolled student of Food Technology/HND. The Vice Chancellor has further been pleased to direct Prof. Dr. Asif Tanveer, Department of Agronomy to work as Director Academics, with immediate effect, till further orders, in addition to his own duties by relieving Dr. Yasir Jamil. CHANCELLOR’S OBSERVATIONS The Syndicate at its meeting held on 31-08-2019 noted the directives of the worthy Chancellor given vide his office letter No.GS (S.I)40-9/2019-578 dated 09-08-2019. The Syndicate decided to circulate the following instructions of the worthy Governor/ Chancellor for strict compliance:- Revision petitions against the decision(s) of the Syndicate/Authority of the University are filed before the Governor/Chancellor under the relevant sections of the Acts of public sector Universities. It has been observed that in many cases, proceedings are initiated against teachers/employees of the universities under PEEDA Act, 2006 on the charges of misconduct but the Syndicate, instead of culminating/finalizing the proceedings under the Act ibid, decides the cases under the Statutes of the University or other laws, which entails legal complications. under the Act ibid and not under any other provision of law/rules. In any case, this is a cardinal principle of jurisprudence that once proceedings are initiated under a particular law/Act, they have to be decided under the provisions of the same law. The Governor/Chancellor has, directed that Vice Chancellors/Chairmen Syndicate of all public Sector Universities in the province shall ensure that the provisions of the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006 are followed in letter & spirit and disciplinary proceedings initiated against teachers/employees of the Universities under this Act should be finalized/decided under the same law and not under any other provision of laws/statues. The same principle shall be followed for actions/proceedings under other Laws/Statutes.

PhD THESIS/SYNOPSIS DEFENCE 1. Ms. Javaria Nasir, Regd. No. 2007-

ag-1708, PhD scholar, Institute of Agricultural and Resource Economics was going to defend her thesis entitled “Estimation of Economic Impacts and Adaptation Benefits of Climate Change on Agricultural Production System(s) in Punjab, Pakistan” on 15-10-2019 at 10:00 am in Distance Learning Centre II. Given unavailability of External Examiner-I, it is requested to re-arrange same event on 17-10-2019 at 02:00 pm at same venue.

2. Miss Qurat-ul-Ain, Regd. No. 2014-ag-12, PhD student of Department of Chemistry is going to defend her PhD thesis on 25-10-2019 at 11:00 am in DLC-2 (Video Conference Room-2) UAF. All concerned are requested to make it convenient to attend. The title of her PhD thesis is “Evaluation of nano-silver derivatives of selected botanical sources for their anticancer potential”.

3. Mr. Amjad Rehman Asghar, Regd. No. 2015-ag-2223, PhD student (Rural Sociology) of the Department of Rural Sociology has successfully defended his PhD thesis on 11-10-2019. The title of his thesis is “Socio-Economic and Cultural Factors affecting the Health Status of Elderly Men in Rural Punjab, Pakistan”.

4. Ms. Nafeesa Aslam, Regd. No. 2008-ag-2376, PhD student of the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics has successfully defended her PhD thesis on 04-10-2019. The title of her thesis is “Breeding potential of tomato for Zn mobilization to fruits”.

5. Mr. Muhammad Shabaan, Regd. No. 2011-ag-3050, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences has successfully re-defended his synopsis in a seminar at the University level on 03-10-2019. The new title of his synopsis is “Evaluation of microbially mediated soil enzymes and their impact on maize growth under salinity stress”.

6. Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim Shahid, Regd. No. 2006-ag-1973, students of Department of Entomology, entitled “Geographic variation in the susceptibility of spodoptera exigua (Hubner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) to cry toxins in Bt-Cotton” has successfully defended his PhD thesis on 07-10-2019.

7. Mr. Usman Iqbal, Regd. No. 2005-ag-2187, is a PhD (Water Resources Engineering) student in the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, UAF. His PhD research title is “Precision Irrigation for Improving water use efficiency using Indigenized Sensor Based Irrigation Scheduling and Efficient Irrigation Techniques”. He successfully defended his PhD thesis in the video conference room (DLC-1), UAF on 10-10-2019.
