WPL FORGED AHEAD IN 20172017 was a year full of new ventures, community part-nerships, and exciting events at WPL! Here are just a few 2017 highlights:

This year marked the successful opening of the Seaway Mall Branch. The Grand Opening attracted hundreds of new patrons of all ages to imagine, connect and discover.

WPL expanded its reach offering new events to further engage the community and grow as a central hub for arts and culture. In January 2017, Loud in the Library debuted and eradicated the old-fashioned and quiet library stereotype. This live-music event featured local musicians Jessica Wilson, Ryan Guay of Street Pharmacy and the Stotts who entertained a diverse and enthusi-astic crowd!

A new partnership was formed with Niagara Health System Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. Our Canvas & Coffee paint night, facilitated by Kim Moreau, created an opportunity to relax and unwind through painting while supporting the clinic. Participants brought dona-tions of sunscreen and waterbottles for the clinic to dis-tribute throughout the summer to their clients.

Play for Peace, an interactive world music event, was led by music teacher Mark Chindemi of Chinwa Rhythms. Attendees were invited to participate in a drum circle, learning basic rhythms, and appreciating cultural sounds from around the globe.

Watch for updates on upcoming events in 2018!
