ACTIVITY OFFICE NOTES:

Good Morning; As I think about my past year and how much I

enjoy this park and its residents, these thoughts come to mind...

I observed during the Children’s Christmas Party how very generous and loving our residents are.

As we enter a new year, I would like to remind everyone that it benefits all of us to treat each other as we would like to be treated. So often in life, we forget to think of others as we go through our busy schedules. Such things as volunteering to help others as well as not taking things that do not belong to us is in keeping with the Christmas spirit of the season that has just passed. If we spend more time thinking of others first, then we feel better about ourselves.

So as we go forward in this new year, let’s make an effort and see how good we feel when making others feel better.

FOR SALES AND FOR RENTS

VOLUNTEERS GARY AND DIANA work with the For Sales and the For Rents. Their contact informa-tion is 480-983-6964 or e-mail: [email protected]. They are the people who repre-sent most of the units being sold or rented here in the park. They make up the For Sale List and the For Rent List. Information needed for listings: the year and model of the unit, the price being asked, dates of availability for rent and when the rent is due on the For Sale units. Frequently asked questions: does it have an Arizona Room, does it have a washer and dryer, the size of the bed, if the unit is all electric? Information Gary and Diana need to list your unit:

Name, address, phone number and the dates you

are requesting to rent, e-mail address or alternate

contact number. If you can’t reach them leave a

message and they will return your call. Thank you

for your cooperation!

Thank you for your cooperation!

MANAGER’S MOMENTS

The New Year is in full swing and boy, are things popping and it looks as though everyone is having a good time. When we hear from the north we are especially happy to be here in this wonderful park. I get such wonderful compliments about the way our park looks when people come for the first time and Jerry and I credit you for keeping it beautiful. Thanks for doing your part. Now let’s talk electric. It is complicated although really simple. First let me put to rest the rumor that we charge you a surcharge. PVC does not have any charges that you pay unless you are late with your bill as stated in your rule book. There are no hidden fees in your electric bill. We get an amortization sheet from SRP (Salt River Project) our electric company. We receive one every quarter with a different bill-ing price: spring, summer, peak season and winter. The city requires we add to your billing 9% tax. We charge for only the amount of electric you use. If your electric is not turned on in your unit there is no charge. Our maintenance men read the meters and turn the reading into Effie and she determines with her SRP sheet the cost of your usage. The first kilowatt is $17.07 and we go from there. The sheet is on display in the office at all times. We tried in the past to save people from paying that first kilowatt twice by carry-ing over anything less than 50 kilowatts but people continue to challenge our figures. They remember when they came but sometimes they forget what the weather was at that time and how long it takes to heat up the unit or cool the unit down and they question why their bill is what it is. So we will just bill people for whatever their read-ing is in the month they use electric. With all the new residents and RVers we can miss a reading so if you have not received your electric bill please call or come into the office and ask us about it. Welcome and thanks again to all residents for all your services here in the park. Without you as helpers and volunteers this would not be the best park in the valley.

Jerry and Darlene

We were informed today that SRP sent us the incorrect rate sheet. This has caused

you to receive an incorrect rate on your light bill. We are adjusting this problem as of

today (Jan. 8, 2014). If you have already paid your bill, you will have a credit on your

next month's bill. December was the ONLY month with this error. Sorry for any incon-

venience this may have caused.

There will be a CPR Class on Sat., Feb. 1st from 11-3pm in the Main Hall. The AJ Fire Dept. will be instructing this class. Cost is $35/pp and you can sign-up in the Activity Office. Heartsaver® CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult. This course teaches skills with AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, pro-vide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills. This hands-on skills training prepares them to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. It also teaches the skills and knowledge needed to provide care for victims of sud-den cardiac arrest through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

DANCE, DANCE, DANCE There are many activities in the park, however, lets not forget the great Friday night dances here at Lost Dutchman (7:00 to 10:00 at the Main Hall) tickets are $6.00 and can be pur-chased at the Activity Office Tue to Fri or at the door. BANDS scheduled for the month of JANUARY are as follows: 10 Jan - Riff Raff Band; 17 Jan - Exit 40; 24 Jan - Saguaro Sunset; and 31 Jan - Canyon Country (Paramedics Fund Raiser). Please pay at the Kitchen. Entering the dance without paying is a disser-vice to yourself and all park residents. The cabaret committee not only co-ordinates dances, we also support local charities and our Activity Office. Your contribution helps.

Brian Roman’s rich and versatile voice gives compelling rendi-tions of the great songs of Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones, Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Bobby Daren, and Paul Anka in addition to music from Bozz Scags, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, Van Morrison and more. His singing is not impressions of these great singers, but rather, great expressions of memorable songs of special times past. The strength and richness of his voice brings to life the won-derful lyrics of songs like Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life”, Neil Dia-mond’s “Sweet Caroline” or Elvis Presley’s “Can’t help falling in love”. So, come join us for a “ladies only” evening in the Main Hall for a “nightclub” atmosphere of entertainment. Evening attire is optional.
