Holiday Program
Rotary Tones and the Degenerates
President Herb Gooch introduced Dave Kriebel and his spouse Betsy Fried-man to start the Holiday Program with Santa Clause is Coming to Town, sung by the Rotary Tones. According to Betsy, they had countless rehearsals and lots and lots of wine preparing for this holiday show. Among the other songs presented were the #1 Christmas song this season, Mirah Carrie's "All I Want For Christmas is You," plus First Hanukkah Night, and The Hat I Got for Christ-mas is Too Big, sung by Tony Kourounis, who was for some reason wearing big-sombrero and Fred Lindberg. At the break, instead of Santa coming into the room, Patricia Jones showed up saying that Santa is starting to 'lose it.' Her expert senior assessment had determined that Santa was no longer competent to perform his duties so he and Mrs. Clause retired to Palm Springs. In his place two 'elves' showed up (Christal Doyle and Darin Arrasmith) saying that things are being done differ-ently and more efficiently now by doing everything electronically. They then introduced Santa's replacement (Jason Cory) as qualified to replace Santa, because he is the top Amazon Fulfillment Specialist. As such he knows how to deliver a LOT of gifts in a timely manner. The Santa replacement proceeded to pass out gifts to Herb Gooch , to Jeff Borenstein, and to Monica Fuller. Patricia Jones got an award for pro-moting the raffle for a chance to ride on the Rotary Rose Parade float. She then said the raffle was over and low and behold SHE WON! She then pre-sented her ticket to Karen Furnari. Other songs included Jingle Bell Rock,Oh Hanukkah, Silver Bells, and White Christmas. This last song was sung by Pat McCoy. Other members in the Tones included Nancy Wohl, Carol Robinson, Karen Furnari, Joani Pappas, Chris Steele, and Teresa Seeley. The Degenerate script writers were David Masci and Vicki Arndt .

President Herb Gooch introduced David Masci for the Moment of Inspira-tion. David expressed how impressed he was as he thought of his fellow Ro-tarians. He mentioned, for example, how many Rotarians supported beloved Rotarian Karen Furnari as they were there for Steve’s funeral. He reflected on the Rotarians he saw bringing in gifts for children that do not get gifts be-cause of poverty. He added that, even though these Rotarians, do not know these children, yet they are still excited to give. He said he was moved by how our club members give their time and treasure to help people with their medical and dental problems through the free clinics, those with hunger by supporting Manna, expanding literacy by supporting the reading project, re-ducing despair by supporting the story book Project at the Todd Road jail.
Moreover, he said he was inspired by Rotarians all around the world doing these projects in their communities and communities far away from them as we as a club try to wipe out polio and save and improve the lives of hun-dreds of thousands of people.
David ended his reflections by saying, “I am so thankful I get to share this journey with you and 1,200,000 other Rotarians. So as you gather with those close to you to celebrate the holidays, think about the amazing things you been involved with, be thankful for the opportunity do it and be inspired to do more.”
After the pledge to the flag, President Herb welcomed the many guests that were present. Then President Herb had Michelle Nash present the Blue Badge to new member Heather Cousins.
