To donate blood is human act but to use safe blood during transfusion is a right.

14 June 2006 World Blood Donor Day in Albania

This is the slogan that Albania Red Cross has been used during the World

Blood Donor Day campaign and the messages that all the partners; Ministry of Health, WHO, National Blood Transfuzion Center, Blood Donor Association have been transmited in the public were:

“The Safe Blood starts with me and you. “Celebrating your gift of blood “(WHO 2006)

Safe Blood, Saves life! Your donation could make the diference between life and death. Giving Blood does not endanger a person’s health and says a lot about you.

The World Blood Donor Day held on 14 June 2006 and celebrated since 1-14 of June in our country in 10 main RC Branches.

The RC activities organised to celebrate this Day were as follow:

Letter of announcement.

A letter announcing World Blood Donor Day and outlining its objectives has been sent to Ministry of Health, Blood Transfusion Services, United Nations agencies, Media seeking their active support for national activities.

We have been used the World Blood Donor Day logo and slogan:

I donate blood and I save LIFE, Are you doing the same? “Celebrating your gift of blood” WHO 2006.

"I donate blood and I save Life.Are you doing the same?”

These have been used in all materials and promotional items.

Have been coordinated the launch of an educational campaign on blood donation with all actors specially with the Health Education Department in the MoH.

We prepared Certificate of Honoured Blood Donor signed by the Minister of Health and President of RC.

Popular celebrities informing the audience the importance of Blood donation and thanking all blood donors.

Award the “Donor of the Year”

Invited the Minister of Health and other prominent politicans to support WBDD by attending a donor awards ceremony, giving an intervieor donating blood.

Organised a special emission with the MoH and the President of RC to do publicity our agreement and to promote the WBDD.

We have been put the tents in the main square in Tirana in crowed areas , Mobile ambulance of blood donation have been let there, decorated with posters , balons and

Private media in advance of World Blood Donor Day to secure their interest and support, organising broadcasting the spot free as a public service announcement . We have been made the partnerships with all kinds of media (radio, TV, and newspaper) to insert news about blood donation and WBDD)

A press kit distributed to National and Private media before 14 June 2006 with the aim of achieving a high level of media coverage to support national campaigns.

Requested city mayors to promote World Blood Donors Day in the districts and adopt voluntary blood donation as a campaign for this year.

T- shirts, stickers, leaflets and posters.

Contacted our National Football Assocciation to request its collaboration and support for WBDD and ongoing activities.

Prepared and published an article, greeting and thanking all institutiones, blood donors and inviting non donors to give blood.

Have been performances by local artists

Organised the sessions of blood donation in 10 branches and distributed a better different snack after donation.

Contacted with Journalists Association and invited them to donate blood and report on their experience

Invited the staff of the National and Private media to donate blood on 1 June for the Talasemik children.

GJAKU I DHURUAR ESHTEGJAKU ME I SIGURT PER TRANSFUZION

Çfarë duhet të dini përpara dhurimit të gjakut?- Dhurimi nuk dëmton shëndetindhe nuk shkakton varësi- Organizmi ynë ka 5-6 litragjak, sasia që dhurohet ështësasi e papërfillshme për një or-ganizëm të shëndoshë- Mos pini duhan ose pije alkoo-like përpara dhurimit- Mund të pini kafe, çaj, kos oselëng frutash

- Akti i dhurimit nuk zgjat mëtepër se 10 minuta- Dhurimi bëhet në kushte higje-nike (aget me një përdorim)- Gjaku i dhuruar zëvendësohetbrënda disa ditësh.

- Gjatë dhurimit nuk ndjenidhimbje, por vetëm një pickimtë vogël.- Gratë që përdorin kontracep-tiv nuk duhet ti ndëpresin ato.

Dhuruesi duhet të jetë i ndërgjegjshëm dhe i përgjegjshëm për aktin e dhurimit të gjakut!

Për sa kohë zëvendësohet gjaku:

Organizmi është i aftë të zëvendëso-jë gjakun e dhuruar pasi normalisht edhe jashtë dhurimit qelizat e gjakut shkatërrohen çdo 120 ditë dhe po aq zëvendësohen me të reja.Volumi i gjakut kompensohet brënda disa minutash, ndërsa qelizat e gjakut për disa ditë.

Dhurimi nuk dëmton shëndetin dhe nuk shkakton varësiMosha për të dhuruar 18- 60 vjeçPesha trupore mbi 50 kgShëndet i mirëMos pini duhan ose pije alkoolike përpara aktit të dhurimitMund të pini kafe, çaj, kos ose lëng frutashDhurimi bëhet në kushte higjenike sterile (gjilpërat me një përdorim)

Sa dhurohet:Sasia e gjakut që dhurohet është e papërfillshme tek organizmi i njeriut që ka rreth 5 - 6 litra gjak dhe nuk i kushton asgjë një trupi të shën-doshë.

14. Prepared a special Health emission with the doctors representatives from the Red Cross, the National Blood Transfusion Center, chief of the Hematology and Surgery in University Center of Hospital in Tirana.

Evoluation / outcomes:Concretely the results of the World Blood

Donor Day was as the following:

- 15 wider awareness campaign in the main RC Branches organised about the importance of voluntary unpaid blood donation, involved 184 volunteers and distributed 100 000 volante sheet, 6000 posters and 30.000 leaflets, 500 seperators for the books.

- 460 people have been recruited and 392 donors appeared on the day amongst them:

The staff of the RC, the Mayer of the municipality, the journalists who had come to prepare the chronic for TV.

The collection passed of without any difficulties.

The event was broadcast on TV as a new items as a separate transmission on the following day.

In general, the reaction of media and opinion was a very good one.

- The contribution of the AlRC volunteers to the campaign was an important factor of ensuring its success also strengthening their commitment the RC.

- The contribution of media was 25.000$

- Cooperation with external partners, particularly the Ministry of Health, Blood Transfusion Center, Blood Donor Organisation and Media was also strengthened.

- The campaign had an impact on the recognition of Alb.R.Cross work , particularly its roles as auxiliary the state and lider on the Promotion of nrbd.

The results achieved in this campaign create a good background to expand and develop further these activities.

Vështirësi dhe mosrealizime :

Në nivel kombëtar ishte planifikuar një koncert në bashkëpunim me Bashkinë për falenderim të dhuruesve dhe për të inkurajuar të gjithë ata që kanë dhën gjak dhe që mendojnë të dhurojnë gjak duke kontribuar në përmbushjen e kësaj sipërmarrje rregullisht. Ky nuk u realizua për arësye të mungesës së koordinimit me shoqatën kulturore nga Bashkia megjithë kontributin dhe

gadishmërinë e Bashkisë në këtë manifestim publik për dhurimin vullnetar falas të gjakut.

Në nivel lokal vështirësi ka pasur bashkëpunimi me disa institucione si me Bashkinë në Vlorë etj. Në nëndegën Lushnje nuk u realizua dhurimi i gjakut në bashki ditën që u la dhurimi për arësye të grevës që u organizua për bashkinë lidhur me prishjen e tregut.

Është mesazhi që KKSh me të gjithë partneret si Qëndra Kombëtare e Transfuzionit të Gjakut (QKTGJ), Organizata Shqiptare e Dhuruesve Vullnetar të Gjakut (O.Sh.Dh.V.Gj) përcollën në të gjithë vendin me rastin e Ditës Botërore të Dhurimit të Gjakut . Gjithashtu për sensibilizim të publikut u përdor sllogani i OBSh për këtë vit: «Të kremtojme së bashku Ditën Botërore të Dhurimit të Gjakut si dhe slloganet tashmë të njohur «Gjaku i sigurt shpëton jetë!
