We have chosen these stunning areas for their interesting walking routes, outstanding wildlife and amazing landscapes. The walking holiday itineraries have been designed to experience the best routes, accommodation and local cuisine in the areas, Ibex Trex caters for any level of walking from ambling through the tranquil

white-washed villages of Las Alpujarras and Grazalema, to high level trekking in the Sierra Nevada which can include climbing the highest mountian on mainland Spain, Mulhacen at 3482 metres.

The Sierra Nevada & Las

Alpujarras

The Sierra Nevada represents the highest massif in Europe after the Alps, with Mulhacen at 3482m being the highest peak in the Iberian peninsular. Clinging to the Southern slopes are the whitewashed villages of the Las Alpujarras. The villages have retained their architecture and culture from Moorish times, and the landscape reflects this with its terraced hillsides and groves of olives and almonds.

Las Alpujarras in early spring is a sight to behold. The hills are covered in purples, pinks and whites and the air is scented with the heady smell of blossom. The Sierra Nevada is still covered in snow and is an amazing backdrop for our days walking.The holiday is five days long with three days guided walking and four nights in the excellent Alqueira de Morayma hotel.

Las Alpujarras Valley walk is one of our most popular itineraries. Starting in Capileira, the highest village in the Poquiera Gorge, we meander along the ’Alpujarran Valley’ and then amble our way East to Cadiar, through the beautiful white washed villages and stunning valleys. This itinerary has the benefit of exploring four fabulous locations and experiencing four very different hotels within the Las Alpujarras.

Las Alpujarras is the place of the Moors last stand. The area is still rich with their legacy. You can see it in the architecture, the food and most of all the scenery. They carved terraces out of the hillsides, creating amazing landscapes and irrigated the land making lush valleys. This walking holiday has been created for walkers who want to walk that little bit longer and also do some high level walks includes Siete Lagunas (2900m) .

The Sierra Nevada is the highest massif in Europe after the Alps, with Mulhacen being the highest peak in mainland Spain at 3482m. The diversity of this region, which ranges from 500 metres in the Las Alpujarras to over 3000 metres in the Sierra Nevada gives walkers a fantastic week of varying landscapes, wildlife and climate.The week is catered for people who wish to have some challenging walks and to walk at a high altitude.

This walking holiday is split between two hotels. We start in the Poquiera Gorge and head east exploring a variety of the classic trails along the way. This itinerary includes the breathtaking 3000m high level ridge trek. We stay 4 nights in Capileria and 3 nights in Alqueria de Morayma.This itinerary also includes a day in Granada and the opportunity to visit the the fabulous La Alhambra.

Ibex Trex Guided Holidays are all inclusive packages. They are designed for individuals, couples or small groups to walk and meet with other like minded people in these beautiul regions of Spain.

The price of our guided walking holidays include:-• All walks professionally guided• Half board accommodation in excellent hotels - with all breakfasts and evening meals• Lunches on walk days• All transport throughout the week including airport transfers from Malaga, Almeria or Granada• The chance to visit Granada and the Alhambra on your designated free day (50 Euro per person) • The only thing you will need extra money for is additional drinks and your lunch on the free day

We only use the best hotels in the region and all have en suite bathrooms. They all have swimming pools which are open from late May to early October.

Las Alpujarras Valley Week is a leisurely walking week which starts in the West of the valley and ends in the East. All walks are between 6km-14km in length and are easy in walking ability. This itinerary includes a free day in the traditional white-washed village of Trevelez. and has the benefit of some transfers which keeps the walking distances down, so is ideal for a more relaxing walking holiday.

This itinerary includes stunning routes across the valley in the Heart of the Alpujarras. All walks are 12km-19km in length and are easy to medium in walking ability.This itinerary allows you to spend two nights in each hotel and includes a free day to explore Trevelez, the highest village in Spain.

This itinerary takes you up into the Sierra Nevada and Mulhacen before descending into the more tranquil Alpujarras. All walks are at least 6-10 hours in length andare medium to hard in walking ability.This itinerary stays one night in the Poqueira Refugio before the ascent of Mulhacen (3482m) the next day. It continues along the beautiful Alpujarran valley walking through traditional white villages.

This adventurous itinerary takes you on a journey from Capileira, high in the Sierra Nevada all along the Las Alpujarran valley. You can add in Mulhacen into the itinerary and you can choose to walk 9, 10, 11 or 12 days. The rotue follows the GR7 and also some of our great circular routes, A real walking experience walking the full length of the valley to Mairiena.

Based in the stunning Alquiera de Morayma, near the village of Cadiar, Las Alpujarras. This holiday is tailor-made for groups of 2 or more. Guided routes are included as well as transfers, if required.Days to explore the variety of different villages and a trip to Granada can also be included. The National Park of Grazalema is 100km from Malaga airport. Designated a Unesco Biosphere Reserve in 1977 and then a Spanish National park in 1984, it was the first national park in Andalucia.The National park of Grazalema is full of spectacular limestone and dolomite gorges and crags that rise up dramatically, One of Europe’s largest population of Griffon Vultures is found in Grazalema and

this is a very rich area for bird life, particularly raptors.

This holiday walks through Grazalema National Park famous for its fabulous limestone outcrops and amazing wildlife. This area is home to a variety of raptors and one of the biggest colonies of Griffon Vulture in Europe. The route walks some of the classic paths in Grazalema. You will stay in 3 beautiful hotels in the Park and finish your trip in the spectacular town of Ronda on your last night.
