Big thanks to Wendy who had to
individually respond to all enquiries.
As always it is always fun seeing what
names teams come up with. There is
guaranteed to be a moan or a laugh
from committee members, especially
Fran as we read through them. Great
colour combinations are always
anticipated and I notice this season we
have some tie dye colours. Love your
work.
The Premier League a new initiative is
being trialled this season as a way to
keep girls staying in netball. We look
forward to any feedback.
We are very excited about our new
Representative Uniforms. Thanks to
the generosity of the Wangaratta
Marathons donation of $5000.00. The
girls will be proudly showing them off
at the tournaments.
Jackie Seymour—Editor
Welcome to all families, friends,
coaches, umpires, players and
supporters to our 2015 season.
Sorry our April newsletter is in May
but it has been a huge start to the
season.
I would like to welcome our new com-
mittee members who have come on
board to help keep things running
smoothly so your children can enjoy
their netball. With so many children
and adults playing there is an enor-
mous amount of jobs needed to be
done to get everyone on the court.
Thanks to Lynne and Michelle from
‘ixd Interpretive by Design’ for our
exciting new association logo. It looks
fabulous on our new letterheads,
representative uniforms, hoodies and
committee jackets.
Thanks to all the umpires who have
put their hand up to umpire for your
teams. There are many teams who pay
their umpires $10 per game.
We encourage other teams to take
this example and reward their
umpires for giving up their time
every week for your team.
Thanks also to the coaches who give
up their time to coach teams. As we
all know there is plenty of
preparation that goes into working
out training drills as well as game
day.
Thanks to all the parents and friends
who get their children down to the
courts every week. I hope you enjoy
watching the enjoyment they get out
of netball.
We have umpire and coaching
clinics coming up so keep an eye out
on facebook and our website for
notifications.
Thank you for your patience regis-
tering with Netball Victoria online. It
was a new process and there are a
few issues they are now aware of and
are fixing.
13/Under Representative Team - modelling our new netball uniforms.
Due to the generous donation from Wangaratta Marathons Justin and Sharon
Scholz we have 90 new representative uniforms.

Wednesday Night
Competition After Round 10 of our
Autumn Competition we
have been lucky to have
some kind weather for most of our games. The cold
weather is definitely on the way so make sure you rug
up.
Section 1—sees the Wang 17’s rep team on top with 10
straight wins. Family ties and Combos are not far
behind with only a couple of losses each. There are a
couple of teams battling to fill the fourth spot to make it
into finals.
Section 2—sees Just 4 Fun who must’ve got a bit more
serious because they are on top. Closely followed by
Titans, Wang Blue15 and Dynamite. The rest of the
teams are a couple of games behind but have time
to improve.
Section 3—Gonnabes are definitely gunna be in finals as
they sit on top with 10 wins. The Squad and Vue Crew
could change that and Black Ice, Revive are hot on
their tails. The rest of the section can still jump up with
a couple of wins.
Section 4—North Wang are still on top with Mocking-
jays one game behind. There are a few teams who will
be fighting it out to make the top four over the next
couple of weeks.
Melbourne Vixens –v– Queensland Firebirds
On Sunday 12th April we took a bus to Melbourne to
watch the replay of the ANZ Championships Grand
Final 2014 between Melbourne Vixens and
Queensland Firebirds. It came down to the team with
the less errors on the day and it was the
the Firebirds on the day coming away with a 6 goal win.
Some of the netballers who came down to get some
tips.
All Abilities Program 2015
Mary Verdon
All Abilities Co-ordinator.
Our All Abilities started in 2014, each year is a growing
process, we now have up to 14 players of all ages. We
sometimes go to Shepparton to play against and meet
other All Abilities teams, all the kids have so much fun
and always seem to be enjoying themselves and learn
more about the game of netball, which involves
increasing all their skills from there foot work right up to
the different ways of throwing the netball. After a good
day of netball we end the day with a lunch and a chat.
This year we start our first game on May the 9th I would
absolutely love to see some new faces coming along to
give it a go and for all the kids and teens who have
participated in the past to come along once again, I
encourage everyone to get out and have a go. It would
also be greatly appreciated for other people who may
not be participating all abilities to still come along to
help assist in umpiring, helping on court or just cheering
them along , everyone is welcome.
Thanks for the All Abilities players who dressed in
PINK to support our Breast Cancer Awareness day.
All Abilities play at 10.00 on Court 1.

Wohlers
We hope you enjoy your year and look forward to hearing
how the teams go. We encourage the parents and
supporters to get behind their coaches and support the
teams.
Our new Representative Uniforms have arrived and we are
all excited at how great they look. It was impressive to see
the teams running around at the Wangaratta and Albury
Tournaments. We thank Justin and Sharon Scholz -
Wangaratta Marathon donated $5000 to our association
which enabled us to be able to make this happen. It was
great to see how proud the girls were representing
Wangaratta in their new uniforms.
Thanks to Cheryl Peters for working through organising the
uniforms from start to finish. There was hours of work
done before they could be ordered and we appreciate the
huge amount of time she put in to get them here.
WANGARATTA NETBALL TOURNAMENT
Our Annual Tournament was held on Sunday 19th April. It was our biggest tournament in over 10 years with 66 teams
entering. It was great to have teams from Casey, Wagga, Shepparton, Echuca, Wodonga, Yarrawonga, Albury, Benalla
and Mansfield attending. The weather was kind with a breeze which kept the goalies working hard all day.
The committee was flat out in the days leading up to tournament arranging catering , drinks, bbq’s and anything else
which was needed for the day. There was also a huge amount of work done by Rodney, Cheryl and Fran with making
up a draw to cater fairly for all teams. We had all 15 of our courts running and we also needed to use one court from
inside the Bar Reserve.
Our trustee MC for the day Aileen had everyone on the courts and kept the games running to time. It is a full time job
making this happen.
Our winners for the day were—
17/Under—Wagga def Wangaratta 10-9, 15/Under—Casey def Albury 12-8, 13/Under—Albury def Murray 10-9,
11/Under—all players received a certificate for participating.

UMPIRES 2015
Every Saturday we need to supply 54
umpires for our netball matches.
Many of these are young inexperienced
people, so training sessions are held
regularly.
As with most things we learn, time and
practice are need to gain proficiency.
So far this season 4 sessions have been
held, which have been attended by a
pleasing 25 different umpires.
I would encourage NO, urge all upires
to attend as often as possible, a sure step
to improvement.
Coaches and spectators need to be
mindful of how close they are to the
court. Audible, adverse remarks are
certain to sap any confidence of even the
most experienced umpire, let alone the
new group. Thanks and encouragement
are always welcome.
8.30am Games
We are struggling to provide enough
umpires at 8.30am, so ask past players ,
coaches and umpires to volunteer for
this duty.
NB/All teams must supply an umpire. If
your team has not yet done so, this
should be attended to immediately, or
loss of points will need to occur.
Coaching In accordance with netball rules ONLY the
coach may coach (direct play.) from the side-
lines. She/he must remain in the same posi-
tion during play (usually the centre of the
side). It is not allowable to stand behind the
goal line giving instructions.
Fran Doig
CANTEEN ROSTER 2015 Pleas make sure all your teams organise helpers.
We require 4 helpers at a time.
8.30am—12.00pm
Committee Profile
Mary Verdon—All Abilities Coordinator,
How long have you been on the
committee—
I have been a member of WNA
now for 4 years, with my 2 girls
playing netball from grade 3, and
still going strong with their game ,
and enjoying playing, learning and
meeting new friends .
What is your role—
I am the coordinator of All
Abilities, I have been in this role
since 2013 and I enjoy working with
all of the kids who come along to participate.
Why did you join the committee—
I started on the WNA at first just to be involved with my
children but since then I have meet amazing people and
friends. Seeing how netball makes young children grow
with skill, meeting new people and just how so many kids
have such love for the game, it’s such a great community
involvement.
What do you love about WNA—
I have so much joy in helping our new and our past
families, who have been with our netball committee for
quite a while ,get involved.
What do you hope for WNA—
The hopes I have for the WNA is to help it grow gaining
new members , to get new courts and clubrooms for the
near future.
I have had so much fun being on board on the committee.
Some of the days can get very tiring but it is all worth it in
the end, seeing all the happy faces and smiles after a good
day of netball.
Note from editor: Mary as well as being the coordinator for
All Abilities can also be seen helping out in the canteen,
office, with representative teams, putting up and taking
down goal post pads and anywhere else there is a job to be
done.

Saturday Morning
Competition 2015
Saturday morning started off with
some threatening weather but we
were lucky enough to get through it
without too much rain.
It is always a difficult decision to
call off a round because it can rain
all night and then it can just stop an
hour before the game or just ease
up.
We realise people travel but we also
take into account people have paid
to play and we only have a limited
timeframe during a season to play
games. We call off a round and
contact teams and put a notice on
facebook as soon as we possibly
can. As it is a winter sport some-
times the weather is going to be bad
but players need to prepare for it.
After three rounds of netball we
have now regraded and look
forward to seeing how the teams
improve over the season.
This year we have introduced the
Premier League which is something
we are trialling to try encourage girls
to continue playing netball.
Jennie Annett has been in
discussions with coaches from O &
K and O & M Clubs for many
months to get this new concept out
there and get them on board.
With everything there will be
changes required and we look
forward to receiving any feedback.
I hope to have pictures from last
years Grand Finalists in our next
newsletter.
