The day dawned with the promise of a lovely day and it wasn’t long before the sun shone through. Many hands make light work and everyone had found a job to do, my gang of helpers, Doreen, Pauline, Sylvia, Alan and myself all worked hard to complete the preparations before our guests turned up. 2pm saw the residents filtering down from the bungalows and Hazel Garth. The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Mr and Mrs Ellis arrived in style, much to the residents surprise;

our other council representatives arrived and the party got underway. Thanks to Natalie for helping to set up and Helen for driving the bus. Knottingley Angels and the Maypole dancers made it extra special providing the entertainment. Local businesses donate raffle prizes and we were able to tickets to the elderly residents out free. About 78 people attended and enjoyed a great buffet, making it the most successful bash yet and we are now looking forward to next years.
