Igneous Rock Formed from cooled lava/magma.
Can come from a volcano or when the top of the mantle cools.
Ex: Granite, Basalt, Pumice
Sedimentary Rock Formed when rock and plant sediments are
deposited and compacted together over long periods of time.
Ex: Limestone, Shale, Sandstone
Weathering: Breaking down of rock through wind, ice, heat, water, etc.
Erosion: Carrying away weathered rock through wind, water, gravity, etc.
Metamorphic Rock When rock is put under intense heat and
pressure underground it transforms.
Formed from any of the 3 types of rock.
Ex: Slate, Marble, Schist
