ABOUT 3MT: 3-Minute Thesis was developed by the University of Queensland in Australia, to celebrate the exciting research conducted by PhD students. It is a competition which cultivates student’s presentation and research communication skills. Explaining research in 3 minutes to a general audience is not easy and requires lots of skills development and practice. RULES: Competitors are allowed just 1 Powerpoint slide but no other resources or props. See below for full rules!

To attend a workshop for 3MT, Simone Apel be running a training workshop on March 6th.

FULL RULES FOR PARTICIPANTSRULES:

You must be available to present your 3MT on Friday afternoon, 3rd April 2020. Exact timings will be provided nearer the date.

A single static PowerPoint slide is permitted (no slide transitions, animations or 'movement' of any description, the slide is to be presented from the beginning of the oration).

No additional electronic media (e.g. sound and video files) are permitted. No additional props (e.g. costumes, musical instruments, laboratory equipment) are permitted. Presentations are limited to 3 minutes maximum and competitors exceeding 3 minutes will have points

deducted. Presentations are to be spoken word (e.g. no poems, raps or songs). Presentations are to commence from the stage. Presentations are considered to have commenced when a presenter starts their presentation through

movement or speech. The decision of the adjudicating panel is final.
