Hello everyone! I hope everyone is keeping well. Thank you all so much again for all your hard work. I’m sure it hasn’t been easy learning at home so you should be very proud of all the work you have done. I know I am super proud of all of you A BIG thank you to Maebh Dennehy and James Murphy who sent in pictures of their art work and projects this week. I am so impressed! They are absolutely fantastic – Well done!! Remember, anyone who has yet to send in their work can send it to [email protected] . Please note you must get permission from your parent/guardian as they may be displayed on our school website. Feel free to send in any art work/projects/creations you have made since we finished school – I would love to see them! This week I would like you to continue reading our novel “There’s a Boy in the Girl’s Bathroom” from the PDF I have provided. I have set questions based on last week’s reading (chapters 15-18) So this week I would like you to read chapters 17-22. Once again, Mrs. Hurson has designed some work to assist this week’s comprehension in the Learning Support file. She has also made a Kahoot and everyone is welcome to take part – Thank you Mrs. Hurson! Finally, this week for our history lesson we are going to take a virtual tour of Anne Frank’s house. This is a great 1

Science

Last week we looked at geography in the news. Today we are going to look at science in the news.

I would like you to do some research on a recent news event with links to any topic in science and fill in the template below. You can print it or draw it into your copy.

Your research can be based on a news programme, a newspaper article or a website.

For the links/connections heading, discuss any connections to other events or news. For example, if you were researching an article based on Covid 19 you may talk about the impact it has had on a country’s wildlife/economy etc.

Below is a list of online website which may be useful for your research:

Today we are taking a virtual tour of Anne Frank’s house!

We learned a lot about World War 2 this year and this is a fantastic opportunity to see the actual annex that Anne Frank and her family hid in before they were found on August 4th 1944.

The tour is really fascinating! You can go around the house and click on icons to read facts about Anne and her family. The tour also includes videos and extracts from Anne Frank’s diary.

After taking the tour, I would like you to write about the experience using the tips below as guidance.

Enjoy!

https://www.annefrank.org/en/anne-frank/secret-annex/

Did you enjoy the tour? What did you find most interesting? Did you learn anything new about Anne or her family? How would you have felt living in such a small space? How do you think Anne and her family felt while they were hiding

there? What do you think was the most difficult part of living there? Do you think that visiting the house in person would be different to

a virtual tour? Why? What questions do you have after taking the tour? (Research Anne

Frank further to answer any of your questions!)

Well done - You have completed Tuesday’s work!

Geography

As we approach the summer solstice on June 20th 2020, I would like you to watch this video on Stonehenge.

This is a fascinating monument which attracts about one million visitors each year.

This year, because of the circumstances tourists will not be allowed to visit, however they will live stream on the day. It will definitely be worth tuning in! If you miss it, it should be on the news that day!

Click on the link below and answer the questions into your copy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em-P7MUt5Bk

1. How old is Stonehenge?2. What is the name of the ceremonial pathway at Stonehenge?3. How much do the largest stones weigh?4. Why would it have been difficult to transport the stones when it

was built?5. Explain what happens at Stonehenge on the longest day of the

year.

1) Verb – TéighWith the help of a parent or sibling, test yourself (orally and written) on the verb “Téigh” in the past, present and future tense.
