The Third Grade Newsletter The Week of December 16-20 2013 Tests and Quizzes Twice Weekly: Multiplication Taco Quizzes Tuesday: Science test on fast and slow changes to Earth’s surface Wednesday: Explorers Unit Test Reminders: Our class Christmas party will be on Thursday December 19 th at 1:30. Please read the letter that was sent home Thursday—in homework folder!! The last day of school before Christmas is December 20 th . We will resume school Monday, January 6 th ! Enjoy your long break and happy holidays!!! Remember to keep reading for our December reading logs! The last day they will be accepted will be January 7 th !! Let’s make it our goal to have 100% this month!!! Important Dates to Remember: December 14 th - dance team is performing in the Williamston Parade at 3:00pm December 19 th - Nine Week Celebration - Movie January 6 th - Reading Logs Due (300 min.) December 20 th - Last day before Holiday Break December 20 th - NO Goal Post Reading: We will continue our study of the genre-biography, from last week. Students will complete a biography project in class throughout the week. We will also practice using guide words to find words in the dictionary. Writing : We will work on several winter writings this week. We will practice including excellent word choice in our writing. Math: We will practice strategies for solving multiplication and division word problems. Taco Quizzes will take place twice weekly. Be sure to study these facts with your child NIGHTLY! Our taco party will take place in February. Science : We have learned about changes that can change the Earth quickly such as: landslides, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and floods and slowly such as: weathering, erosion, and deposition. Look over the study notes for the unit test on Tuesday, December 17 th <<Deposition forms a delta Social Studies: We have learned about European explorers who traveled across South Carolina.
