Title: Hybrid Intelligent Systems for Intelligent Control

Abstract: Hybrid Intelligent Systems are playing an important role in developing several intelligent control paradigms and in the electrical power industry. In this talk, we present a Genetic Algorithm-Particle Swarm optimization algorithm based indirect vector control for intelligent control applications. Experiment results illustrate the importance of hybrid intelligent approaches in real world control applications.

Biography: Dr. Kim is currently a professor at Hanbat National University, Korea and heads the intelligent control laboratory. His main research interests are in Neural network control, Fuzzy systems and control, Artificial immune control, Computatonal intelligence, Bacteria foraging, Particle swarm optimization, Hybrid intelligent system and Intelligence based industrial control. He has published over 150 articles in journals and conferences and some of his papers have won best paper awards. Prior to becoming an academic he has bene working with Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Korea and has held several visiting appointments at Argonne National Laboratory, USA; University of Alberta, Canada; Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan etc.
