We moved last week’s assembly into the hall so we could acknowledge
World Autism day and advertise the upcoming Windsor High School 50 th
Anniversary festival including a video of the rides that will be on the prem-
ises. This will be a great event and one in which students can be in-
volved .

On Assembly Annabel and Ameysha advertised that Guess How Many Lollies in the Jar competition as they raise funds for the
Year 12 present to the school.
Harry did a great job rewarding Xavier for using the Cash for Cans recycling initiative
Congratulations to Ben and Maxine for being our High Flyers VIVO award points recipients
At Windsor High School we work extraordinarily hard to ensure all students are fully developed in all areas of
their skills. Our talented Year 7 and 8 singers have been working hard to get ready for the School Spectacu-
lar choir auditions and many performances in the year ahead.

Engaging students in their learning using models as a teaching practice ensure difficult concepts are grasped by all students. An example of this is when Mr Philp’s class made scale models of the solar system. Mr Philp is pictured with the students producing the best model!
.
Also, engaging students by re-creating historical events occurred in the Support Unit this week where the stu-dents are studying ancient cultures. With the aid of toilet paper and a volunteer student, they created their
own mummy in the classroom to learn about mummification.
It was great to see so many parents and caregivers of our Year 7, 11 and 12 students at our Parent and Teacher Night last Tuesday. The feedback from the evaluation, which was done on the Ipads, clearly indicat-ed some positive responses and great suggestions. One of the ideas was to have a parent information night on “A Parent’s guide on how to support their child’s use in Google Classroom” and other technologies that
students use to aid in their learning. We hope to have this night in early term 2

Some of the Show Team members exhibited at Camden Show on Saturday. Our Toggenburg, Vivian won
Grand Champion! Raven won Best of Breed Melaan, Arya won Reserve Junior Champion and Best of Breed
Australian Brown and Dandalee Park Impatiens won Reserve Kid Champion. Amelia, Isabella, Laura and
Hannah showed the goats off beautifully. Renee and Jess, ex WHS students also helped out
We are so proud of Renee Hardy and all she has achieved in her Athletic endeavors. Renee Hardy competed
at the Australian Athletics Championships this weekend. She is now the national champion and also broke
the meet record in the U17 Hammer Throw. She won by over 6 metres! Congratulations Renee, we have our
fingers crossed you end up at the Olympic Games!
Could all parents and caregivers please make sure that their children attend school all of this week? At Wind-sor High School we are trying to prepare our students for their future. The idea of taking time off before your official holidays start is not acceptable in the work place, nor is it acceptable at school.
I wish all our students and staff a well-deserved holiday and I look forward to Term 2 knowing all the great things we will achieve in teaching and learning. Regards Jennifer Hawken

SRC News
As Term 1 has come to a close, the SRC has been busy participating in a number of school based events with the school and the wider community. Some of these activities have included participating and assisting in the RSL and Schools Remember Anzac Commemoration Service and an Ice Cream Spider sale where all money raised has gone towards the purchasing of outdoor picnic tables in the senior quad. Tuesday, 9 April, marked the RSL and Schools Remember Anzac Commemoration Service. This important event which, began in 1953, is held annually at ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park. The service honours the men and women who died defending the values, principles and tradition cherished by Australians. It is a time to remember those who made great sacrifices so that we can enjoy the opportunities available in today’s society. This year our School Captains (Ameysha , Sean and Annabelle ) represented Windsor High School at this important service. Our School Captains were also given the opportunity to lay a floral tribute. This service pro-vides an opportunity to remember those who made great sacrifices so that we can enjoy the opportunities available in today’s society.
An upcoming event to look forward to in Term Two include Jeans for Genes Day. Jeans for Genes Day is a
national day when people wear their jeans to raise much-needed funds for research into birth defects and dis-
eases such as cancer, epilepsy, and a range of genetic disorders. There will also be further fund raising
events for students to keep an eye out for.
