This weekend Jesus enters Jerusalem triumphant, only to leave after a grisly execution on the cross. Because he rises again in 3 days, this death, paradoxically, is a triumph also. No cross = no crown; no crown = no cross. Jesus’ gruesome death and victorious resurrection calls us to Christian accountability. We are called to love one another as Jesus loves us. One way to live this out is to care for the persecuted, the endangered, and the vulnerable. Our diocese is implementing plans to do just that. We are developing a Rapid Response network to help families facing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The response to the call for help could be actually housing a person or family in a sanctuary church or rectory, supporting parishes that take people in, witnessing the ICE interaction, or providing legal and emotional counsel to the person or family involved. We are holding training sessions for vulnerable immigrants on Know Your Rights, how to protect children in case of a deported parent, and how to respond to the situation as a community of believers. Knowing about this network is great comfort to the vulnerable among us. God bless you in your efforts to live our Christian values. Rose Barry, Pastoral Associate

Applications for DYR are now open

Decorating & Flowers for Easter We will decorate our church in all her Easter finery on this Saturday, April 15th from 9:00am-4:00pm.This week, we invite you to bring spring flowering plants—white preferred—to help us transform our desert church into our lush Easter finery. Plants and cut flowers may be brought to the church office on Good Friday, April 14th. Donations of checks or cash may be brought or mailed any time. Thanks in advance for your generosity.

Weekend Liturgy Questions/Comments 4/9/17 1. Although Jesus revealed his full identity to the Samaritan woman

at the well; the man blind from birth; and Mary Martha and Lazarus, he remains stubbornly mute before Pontius Pilate. His courage, humility, and obedience to God reveal his full divinity.

2. Once again, actions speak louder than words. How can we imitate the authenticity of Jesus?

3. Be intentional about Holy Week. Approach it as a week-long retreat. Plan to participate in the parish journey through the Triduum. Prayerfully walk with Jesus from the Cross to the garden.
