Parshat Bechukotai - Shabbat Mevarchim
פרשת בחקתי

Shaarei Tefillah is the destination for families and individuals from diverse Jewish backgrounds who share a
desire for strong Jewish values, relevant inspiration, personal growth and warm welcoming community!
WEEKLY BULLETIN
Dear Members & Guests,
Being on the Living Legacy this past week, a trip that gives one firsthand
exposure to the atrocities of the Holocaust, has created within me a whirlwind
of emotions. I, together with 140 others, (including our own STC family
members Michael Brandt, Rachel Goldberg, Stephanie and Elliot Marer, and
Shawna and Jonathan Samuel) have experienced some deeply profound
lows, as well as some moments of the miraculous feeling of victory. We all
look forward to sharing with you when we return.
As we get ready to bring in Shabbos in Cracow and make the bricks streets
echo with the melodies of Kabbalat Shabbat, I struggle with the fact that
tomorrow we will be reading the tochacha (the rebuke) section of the Torah in
shul. This portion details the list of tragedies which will befall the Jewish
people if we don't follow the right paths, tragedies beyond imagination, yet
ones that sadly are woven into the fabric of our Jewish story. I always wonder
how to reconcile the vast spectrum of these moments and how one finds the
strength to move on.
However, the reality is that all we have to do is wait until the conclusion of the
parsha when everyone stands and says in unison: "Chazak, chazak,
v'nitchazek"- be strong...and be strong again, and together, as one we will
strengthen each other.
Shabbat Shalom from Cracow,
Rabbi Lipner
