As pedestrians, we become more vulnerable when stepping out from the kerb if our headspace is occupied with music, texting or talking. Our mobile devices limit hearing and reduce concentration and reaction times. It’s well to remember that pedestrians will always come off second best when they are involved in a collision with a motor vehicle. The number one safety rule is Head Up. Phone Down. Ryde Youth Theatre Could Ryde Youth Theatre’s newest production hold the answer to one of ancient Egypt’s greatest mysteries? All will be revealed when the Ryde Youth Theatre presents THE TOMB, in two special performances this week. This talented group of local thespians are known for their spirited performances and youthful energy, and seating is limited for this not to be missed event. THE TOMB. In news just to hand, the deadline for Sports and Recreation Grants has been extended until Monday 4 April. These Grants of up to $3,500 are available for local groups and clubs looking to develop programs that encourage community participation in sport, recreation and physical activity. Also, applications for Small Grants up to $1,000, which are available year round, next round closes on 13 May.
